The season is here.. we are seeing 200-300 logs per weekend and hearing reports of the injuries and irritations that give our R.A.S.H. [recreational activity, sport or hobby] it’s character. This season we added a new dimension to measure our success. We are keeping score.
Here is how it works:
For every cache we find we add 10 points. If we are first finders, we add another 25 points.
We subtract points for the negative things.
Subtract 5 points for each insect bite; 20 points for bee, hornet or wasp stings, deduct 30 points for sunburn and 50 points for any herbaceous rashes [wild parsnip, poison ivy, oak or sumac]; bruises, cuts and abrasions knock off 25 points; sprains and strains are 40 points; fractures are worth 100 points.
If we can finish the year with a positive score we have done well. So far we are doing rather well. With over 100 finds thus far we are off to a good start. But with the other factors, we aren’t racking up any big numbers. Our net score right now is at 285 and the poison ivy season hasn’t even started.
How are you faring?
