Anyone know if they allow deer hunting in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, and if so when it is? I am thinking of doing KVR Hi-Lo for a milestone and I dont hunt so I don’t know when it startsstops etc. I have blaze orange to wear but I prefer to avoid hunting lands during seasons that could involve me getting shot on accident. Thanks
I was the last one to find KVR-HILO, and it was on the last day of deer hunting last year. I wore blaze orange, because that area of the state is RIFLE hunting. So a rifled bullet can carry 1-2 miles. Better safe than sorry, but I didn’t see any hunters on the long trek. The season starts on November 21st, and runs to the 29th, but there is an early hunt for Youth on October 10 – 11th, Antlerless Only deer on October 15 -18, and since that is Unit 71, it is a CWD Management Area, so there is another hunt from December 24 – January 3, 2010.
I’m looking forward to reading your log after the trek! If it is raining or snowing, I would hesitate to tackle it. But it is the most rewarding cache I’ve done of the first 2000!
GOOD LUCK!! 😀
We usually hunt on the KVR. Opening weekend has the most people. The last weekend can go either way. We started doing Hi-Lo last year but haven’t made it back to finish it. This is unit 72 not unit 71 and it is not in the CWD zone. Good luck on your hunt.
