Has anyone found or hidden a Lab cache? The month is nearly half over and they’re just for the month of February. I’m curious if anyone has found or hidden one. What do you think? Are you getting in on the craze?
I’m hiding one today and I am also hoping to find one that was hidden for me. I was in on a group of 5 caching teams that decided to hide them for each other. One person arranged it like a secret-santa/valentine thing. I’m excited!

02/12/2014 at 4:39 pm #1974653I did 5 of them with Renee for the HMGT. They were different for sure.

I just don’t get them.

02/12/2014 at 5:48 pm #1974655I guess we should have read the email announcement more carefully, since there doesn’t seem to be anything obvious on the GS homepage that directs you to the details about this. We’re feeling like Lacknothing-we really don’t get what this is about or what to do if we did want to participate. Is this something that might become permanent, or will it just go away at the end of the month? 😕
02/12/2014 at 5:58 pm #1974656It sound an awful lot like those challenge caches of a couple of years ago. Although, they were actually listed on the Gecoaching page. Personally, please bring back the real virtual caches and set specific criteria. I love the historical aspect of these and always look for them.

02/12/2014 at 6:47 pm #1974657I made one but I don’t think I did it quite right. I haven’t sent it to anyone to find…..

02/12/2014 at 7:03 pm #1974658I’m seeing this as just a way to get a smiley or an icon for doing something people have been doing all along in geocaching. They hide something personal, then give the coordinates to someone special to find it. Marriage proposals, birthday presents, family gatherings, Easter egg hunts… Why do cachers need to go through all of this rigamarole to do what they’ve always been doing?
🙄
(Since I used the word “rigamarole”, you may call me a “fuddy-duddy” for my views.)

This does sound like pretty much the same thing and is a whole lot easier than what Groundspeak has going.

Not trying to be a thread-stealer, but I actually used the word rigamarole in conversation today! 😆 I guess that makes me a fuddy-duddy too!
02/13/2014 at 3:14 am #1974661I seriously looked at it as a way to do a Valentines Day gift for Mrs. Northwoods but I never got it together. She’s getting her standard gifts. A card and candies she loves.

I am pretty sure I like those same candies. Do you want my address?

She’s sitting right across from me as we watch the Olympics. I told her and she just let out a good laugh… She likes all those really terrible tasting (to me) types of black liquorice. I didn’t think any one else likes that stuff!

Personally I think that it’s unfair of Groundspeak to be the one to choose the type of breed for these caches. I think there should have been a vote or a contest. I kinda like the name wiener dog cache or Corgi cache; that has a nice ring to it. Well I guess you know now where I stand on “lab” caches. Woof!
02/13/2014 at 5:10 am #1974666I have one made for my Valentine.
I’ll let ya know how it goes. -
