The wife and I are on vacation starting tomorrow and we’re heading for a B&B in Lake Geneva for the first few days of it. There might be a few opportunities to grab some local caches and I’m wondering if any of you have some sugestions for must do caches in the area.

Any that would take us to romantic type locations would make the wifey happy I’m sure. Ok, it’d make me happy as well. 😉

I would recommend The Amazing GeoRace series (GC1NF6X). This one (4 4 stage multis with a mystery final) will take most of the day and tour you around the area. As you find each stage, be sure to stop at all the caches you are driving by/stopped near. You will get most of the good ones that way.

Others that are nice are Ceylon Lagoon (GC12Z4E), Captain and Mate’s First Tide (GCVTD1), Not Quite Yerkes (GC1EGPP), and To Grandmother’s House We Go (GCXKJW).

I can’t recall the name, but do the virtual that follows the shore path from the public beach. A couple miles of walking along the shore with quite a few impressive homes along the way.

That cache is Water’s Edge (GC5235). Unfortunately, several of the virtual stops no longer exist, so are only accessible by internet or library research. The owner is unwilling to adopt the virtual to someone who would maintain it, so I fear this one will eventually go extinct.

I echo the recommendation for the Amazing Geo-Race series. We were at about 7 hours until the final (which is NOT at the dam, please avoid my pitfalls!). It isn’t romantic, but more of an adventure like the TV series. It would be fun to do in competition or in conjunction with other teams too. But the area is pretty so I am sure there are caches in the area that can provide the scenic element too.

I also recommend the Amazing GeoRace caches but I am biased. Another good cache is “Don’t Pick It, Rub it” if it is enabled. I also echo the Captain and Mate caches Team Deejay mentioned.

The Amazing Geo-Race series makes for a great trip around the lake area. Definitely recommended!
