Last night I attended Charlie’s “Wetland Wonders” program. I was surprised to learn that LPSD allows, even encourages, hiking on their wetland properties. While he was pointing out the locations, my mind was reeling with geocache opportunities…but didn’t bring it up because I didn’t know any of the other attendees and didn’t want to chance the first discussion with Charlie being a surprise in front of a group of people.
I’m wondering if anyone here has worked with LPSD to place a cache on a wetland property? I don’t recall reading that in any of the cache descriptions I’ve read but my memory isn’t as good as it used to be. If you’ve already approached Charlie about this, I’d like to know how it went. If nobody has, I’m willing…

I say go for it Steve.

I agree with The Beast — if you feel comfortable presenting geocaching, go for it. For those of us who may not know, can you tell me who Charlie is?02/19/2004 at 11:06 pm #1746347Doesn’t sanitary district= sewage treatment?
02/20/2004 at 12:46 am #1746348I’m definitely comfortable presenting the concept of the activity and, working for We Energies, quite used to engaging in conversations that may take surprising twists in directions that I hoped wouldn’t turn up…
Charlie Shong is the engineer who runs LPSD. The SD is responsible for all issues related to water quality of Pewaukee lake. Sewers, runoff, zebra mussles, preserving wetlands in the watershed, creating canoe launch points on the rivers just downstream from the lake, etc.
My reason for not bringing it up last night wasn’t a fear of Charlie’s reaction, rather a hesitancy to bring it up in front of a crowd of folks when I really wanted to broach it one on one with Charlie.
Sounds like nobody here knows for sure whether the LPSD has been engaged so I will make an appointment to bring it up.
I can see it now: “cache in, purple loosestrife out” http://www.wnrmag.com/supps/2001/jun01/hatch.htm
Thanks everyone for the encouragement,
