I haven’t heard anything about an LCG event this year. Is there one planned?

01/17/2015 at 8:51 pm #2033694While the LCG event is sponsored by WGA, the BOD are not necessarily the coordinators. We are looking into possible hosts.

01/18/2015 at 10:47 am #2033702Hi Jim,
My apologies for not being more on top of this. I can list a few excuses but we do have a a member or two that have offered to host but I need to firm up the plans and locations.
Last year’s event was a success in a smaller venue and the snow shoeing was a big success.
I hope to have a definite work this week barring any issues.
Potential location Bubolz Preserve in Appleton but open to other spots where some caches could be placed and a nice snowy outdoors day could happen.

01/18/2015 at 12:45 pm #2033715Well I’ll put this out here. Although i didn’t participate in the lcg much this year, I would be open to hosting the event at the Mead Wildlife Area on either Feb 7 or 21. A fair number of existing caches as well as33,000 acres open for new caches, and there are even a few lonely caches in the area.

01/18/2015 at 5:55 pm #2033722I will have answerforyou Jim by Wednesday.

01/21/2015 at 3:36 pm #2033895Awesome! It’s a great venue!
01/22/2015 at 11:20 am #2033964Thank you for your work already Jim. I think we were all trying to get through the chili event, but we don’t want this event to sneak up on us so I’m glad for your diligence. As was said before, this event is largely member-planned and executed. You could plan it in this thread or you could find another way to plan it. I believe Chris has spoken with you about the volunteers so far, right? I can be your board contact person for anything you’d need. For example, would you like to create the cache page and then transfer it to the WGA? Or would you like us to do it? Either way is fine. Feel free to respond here or PM me. Thank you for your hard work and participation!

02/24/2015 at 11:28 am #2036163I can’t believe that nobody went to look for the closest lonely cache to the event! GC24TWJ

02/24/2015 at 12:29 pm #2036164Probably because the last look was a DNF a year ago.

02/24/2015 at 12:37 pm #2036165I think there is a DNF limit isn’t there?

02/24/2015 at 12:42 pm #2036167No limit on how many people can look and claim DNF points for the LCG. This one had the DNF only a couple of months ago. As one in the series that appeared to be less of a hike, we had it in our sites last fall, but we ran short on time.
