According to the map i am looking at, all of wisconsin looks to be getting somewhere between 4 inches and 137 feet of snow tonight. I’m thinking snow day from work tomorrow to cache, anyone else heading out into the winter wonderland?
12/08/2009 at 2:30 pm #1917839I’m taking off Friday to play in the snow……but with 13 inches of snow even the winter friendly ones become a bit more challanging.

To shovel and snowblow, no doubt. Caching? No.
12/08/2009 at 3:52 pm #1917841I’m actualy planning on maybe placing a few. Tracks get covered up…
but you moght need snowshoes or x-c skies to get to them. 😈12/08/2009 at 4:01 pm #1917842…can’t wait to strap on the new winterboots I bought last year and hit the trails…..I think I better bring a cell phone, food & water and maybe signal flares though…and scale back the number of finds I had planned.

On the Left Side of the Road...12/08/2009 at 4:38 pm #1917844It’s snowing at Stout right now. I can’t wait till noon. Then I can go out and actually and enjoy the snow.
12/08/2009 at 4:41 pm #1917845I’d hoped to travel as far as Spring Green after work tomorrow for my storytelling gig in Monroe on Thursday. Given the predicted conditions, looks like I’ll have to skip caching for fun and leave here early Thursday, heading straight to my gig.
In principle, I enjoy the snow for x-c skiing (never happier) and snowshoing, but don’t like when it messes with my plans for travel!

Congrats on storytelling gig, i seem to remember you saying you have not had many of those this year.
12/08/2009 at 6:25 pm #1917847Well, we got about 1/4inch and now its sunny…. reminds me of that video from some michigan news/weather crew…
12/08/2009 at 9:58 pm #1917848I’ll be tucked inside my house. Now that the white craphas arrived, I doubt I’ll be driving anywhere now. I think my caching days are over till summer.

Isn’t that why we place the P&G’s!
12/08/2009 at 10:48 pm #1917850Actually, winter is sometimes the best time for some of these toughies, as long as you have snowshoes. A big group of us did “Marsh to the Phillippines” last January and had a blast. “Eagle Source” near Three Lakes is another good example.
Way I see it, the shortened days make numbers less likely anyway, if that’s what we want. So do some of the adventures instead!

I agree. I have a couple of Snowshoe Series that are a heck of a lot easier to do in the winter and you don’t need Snowshoes find them.
