    Salutations,

I’m a volunteer with a 4-H (youth) STEAM club in Central WI (mostly serving Wood, Marathon, and Clark counties). We’ve talked about geocaching for years, and with the continued indoor meeting restrictions, this year seemed like an ideal year to start.

I’m looking for ideas, experienced support (background check required), and ideally, someone to lead the event(s). We’d like to get our members informed, provide some sort of fun geocaching event(s), and possibly make new, or service existing, geocaches.

    Suggestions welcome and thanks!

Hi, I’m in Wood County – Auburndale area. I used to be involved with 4-H and Boy Scouts. The Scouts’ Geocaching Merit Badge has lots of good info and resources. I would suggest hiding temporary caches for the youth to learn how to find before going out for actual caches. If placing new caches, keep in mind that they need to be maintained. Too often I see caches hid by Boy Scout/Girl Scout groups, etc. and nobody takes care of them after they are placed.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
