Let him know you will be on the island for a while as you have to hike to the other side. Hopefully he will come along as it is a terrific trek. Bandits did it when the water was clam and actually carried their nice cameras across. So if you go when all is calm it will be a breeze getting to it. If it is wavy it is still doable you just get more wet but never go under. If you noticed the water line on our shirts that was a white cap day.

Sorry for the bump, but I’m planning a trip to Marquette for next weekend (July 24/25) for a couple days of caching. If I don’t get my 200th find before then, what are some recommended caches worthy of a milestone find?

I can’t do Lil’ Presque Isle because I don’t have the equipment to do that cache. I can still do rough T4 terrains that do not require special equipment.

I had a few T4 caches bookmarked for my 200th find such as the one Zoesbro got for his 1000th.

But if I don’t get to those caches by next weekend, then Marquette will be where I get my 200th. I want it to be worthwhile and be worth remembering because I won’t be back in Marquette for a long time.

    Thanks in advance 😉

Marquette has a lot of amazing caches. Here are a few off the top of my head.

    Hogback’s Back
    Strawberry Lake
    Rock Lobster Revisited
    PAC’s River Trail
    More Power to You
    Have YOU Seen The Light?
    The 25th Letter
    Un-named Carp River Falls
    Morgan Falls Chippie Hide
    Mount Marquette (Formerly TWH)
    Mount Mesnard

Those are a few that I have liked. You really can’t go wrong with any caches hidden by 2277 or Team LaLonde in that area though. You could probably get a lot more suggestions on Marquette area caches if you posted to the Michigan forums too.

Thanks, B2. Doesn’t look like I’ll hit the Isle after all as my muggle friend is unable to go with me and I’m not about to go in the water alone.

So I’ll look at those and see which one is worthy of my 200th find.

For a milestone I would definitely recommend Hogback’s Back. We found the previous cache at that location for our 600th find and it was very memorable. We haven’t done the current version yet, but Team LaLonde made it a multi to prevent muggling of the container on top of the hill. It is a great hike back to the hill (a hair under 2 miles one way) and a fun climb to the top for a breathtaking view.

Here are a few pics from our find of the previous cache….

Looking out toward Lake Superior and Sugarloaf Mountain (also a beautiful view from the top of that one). In the distance you can see Presque Isle Park, where there are a lot of very good caches as well.

Looking at the Superior Dome and Marquette

View of the hill from the trail a little over half way to it from the car.

Thanks B2. I think I will do this one for my milestone. Awesome pics. I’ll be sure to take some of my own when I get there.

I didn’t go to Marquette. Bartrod thought it’d be a great fay for caching at Potato Lake and the surrounding area that day and I agreed, so I went with him. He helped set me up for my milestone with 14 finds that day, which got me to 199. I then waited an anxious 5 days for the milestone as new caches were popping up in my area and I could not get the FTF because I had to save my next find for the milestone.

It was worth the wait and I already nominated Pike Powder Hike for COTM. I’m shocked that cache never made COTM. But I’ll try and be at the PIPE event – my weekend off.
