not on the trail……..usually I like to hear “the sounds of nature” or I just end up talking to myself…..
I’m pretty much the same as everyone here, because I also enjoy hearing nature, especially as I get further from the urban environment. As a general rule, I only have my MP3 player while out doing urban right in town caches, but I even rarely do that.

The buck stops here. . .and gets entered into Where's George.
Where's George? Stimulating the economy one EMS'ed dollar at a time.
Your not the only one, I too listen to my zune almost everywhere especially while i am caching. The only difference is I listen to Podcasts while geocaching, Leo Laporte and his TWIT network, podcacher, The geocahing podcast, Buzz Out loud, and a whole list of sports podcasts. I keep the volume low, and only one earbud in so i can focus on my surroudings. I love doing this on the bike! I do pause it when I come across a tough hide, and put it away so i can focus on the hide.
I listen to music when I’m caching on my bike (on trails), or when I’m doing longer hikes. Not only does it keep me moving at a faster pace, but my singing of showtunes keeps the critters away.
