trying to load a poi onto my 60cx. the program keeps crashing after i choose where the gpx file is located and hit enter to send it. does the file need to be converted to some other format?
any help?06/24/2009 at 9:48 pm #1910130Try opening the GPX file with Mapsource first. Odds are, the file is corrupted. GPX files should work with POI Loader.
Also, make sure you have version 2.1.0 for the Mac.
06/24/2009 at 10:02 pm #1910131When I load large gpx poi file of 5,000 or more into mine the program freezes and a whole lot of other things but if you sit there patiently after twenty or thirty minutes it will start responding again and loads everything correctly and then gives you the nice finish button to click.
06/24/2009 at 10:33 pm #1910132The POI loader used to work great for me with my 60Cx, then with one of the upgrades they did it always crashes when I try sending to my GPS. I downloaded an older version & it worked fine again.
Decided this might have been a fluke & upgraded when a newer version came out, I had the same issues all over again.

What version are you using and where did you find it?

I test the newest version for windows today, which is 2.5.3. It throws an error when I try to transfer to my card reader or my 60Cx.
The last version that works for me is 2.4.2, It can be found here: http://www.gpsinformation.org/perry/agree.html
Just look for the file named “POILoader_242.exe”.
I have a folder with multiple .GPX files and some Garmin .CSV files. I also have custom icon files for each one. This setup might be part of whats causing the issue for me, either way the older version works.

I am using 2.4.2 right now and that one starts and stops and takes about thirty minutes to load a large file. The older versions didn’t do that but I dont remember what release the problems started and can’t find any where that has the old versions available to download. I think when they went to v2 is when the promlems started for me.
I am loading mutiple gpx files containing from 5 to 12,000 cahces in them and custom icons for each. I probally should mention I have a 60csx that I am loading them too.
06/25/2009 at 3:25 am #1910136OK, how do I get the POIs that arfe on Mapsource onto my unit. It shows mystery, and multi and abunch of other cool markers. I’ll add that I have never used the uploader either cuz I don’t no how. 😳
06/25/2009 at 3:31 pm #1910137thanks for the link. i’m on a mac, so i went with the older version of that and it now works.
how do you set it up with custom icons?06/25/2009 at 8:04 pm #1910138@djwini wrote:

I don’t remember the exact file type & size file you need for custom icons, but you can find a set of Caching Icons here that will work.
http://www.thepropers.com/geocaching/60SeriesCustomSymbols.htmAll you need to do is find the icon file you want to use and name it the same as the .GPX or .CSV file & put it in the same folder. then you just upload normally & the POI loader takes care of everything.
Slightly off topic, you can also use these custom icons when marking waypoints on your 60Cx(so you can have cache type icons). you need to use garmins Ximage software to send the custom icons over to the unit: http://www8.garmin.com/support/agree.jsp?id=545
06/28/2009 at 7:09 pm #1910139see why we need some more gsak type classes?
