I too give the “Big G” design an A .
I kind of like it as is, with one exception, the black signal dots on the green G might not show up well (especially on a shirt), maybe just those black dots should be white, then of course the dots in the white state outline must stay black or be green, as white doesn’t show well on white :-). For the same reason, making the X white would not work.04/18/2008 at 8:16 pm #1884655all you need are 4-5 larger white dots between the state and the edge of the G. The exising dots will be invisible at the scaled logo size. A few dots or signal arcs in the aforementioned area would communicate the idea.
The center X could easily become an open green ammo can shape and still work. This logo is EASILY modifed to one-color reproduction.
1 color artwork is easy to use in any application. The benfit of 1-color is that it can be turned to black without loosing anything. By the same token, you can change the color to anything you want and it still works. For example, what if you want a green T-shirt? The logo gets reproduced in white with green show-through. EASY.
Mine logo would be locked in to 4-color reproduction. It would translate well to Grayscale but you could not do 2-3 color screen printing on T-Shirts.

Thanks for all the great submissions. As soon as we can get a voting module up and running, there will be a vote for the top contenders.

04/29/2008 at 7:12 pm #1884658Any word on when you’re going to get a voting module up? Lots of people invested a ton of time in the process of developing logos and we haven’t heard a peep since the 15th…

Sorry for the delay in this. I have been out of state for the past 10 days, and I thought the referendum module was set to go prior to my leaving. I had only sporadic computer access while gone.
Thank you for your patience and all the great submissions.

05/03/2008 at 3:20 am #1884660Here are the 15 candidates from your submissions, as collected after reviewing all of the above. We have some great work here, and I thank you all for your efforts here.
I would ask that each of those who submitted work review their work, and whether they want all of their submissions to be voted on, or just their favorite. As it stands, here is the list of submissions:
1. Cachelovskys (State outline with WGA)
2. Cheesehead Dave (WGA/state in block letters)
3. tyedyeskyguy (4 color state with log letters)
4. rogheff (terrain map of state)
5. tyedyeskyguy (green state with log letters)
6. OuttaHand (Green & Gold “Found It”)
7. 2_Stand (Forward)
8. 2_Stand (WGA blue flag)
9. Cachelovskys (camo state outline with WGA)
10. SammyClaws (paw)
11. seldom|seen (tree)
12. PCFrog (update of current logo)
13. PassingWind (sunrise over barn)
14. Michelle (3 states)
15. Jacey7487 (g)
Also, as a reminder, the first round of voting will get the list down to 3 candidates, and there then will be a second round of voting after the current slate of candidates is voted on.

05/20/2008 at 6:43 am #1884661… and another couple weeks slip past …
Summer is a busy time for us all I understand, but let’s see at least some cursory attention given to this, even if it’s a note saying the voting form is still in the works.
If it’s that tricky to assemble, just list the logos via HTML, assign a letter and create a set of Poll buttons accordingly.
05/21/2008 at 2:01 am #1884662The WGA Board, and many others have been very busy the past couple weeks getting ready, and running the three day WGA camp out with 55 temporary caches and pancake breakfast for 150 WGA members. I’m sure that the Board will be put this up for voting soon.

Hi Seldom Seen,
Thanks for the reminder. We do have it next on the “to do” list. As it turns out, the logistics of doing what needed doing here was just not possible, given the obligations and planning needed for the campout. But we have not forgotten about, and do apologize for the delay.

05/24/2008 at 12:33 am #1884664Just wanted to know that it’s in the to do pile. Sorry, not trying to push.
Actually, before you get too far you need to consider a number of issues with the release of the logo refresh that I am sure have not been vetted yet.
One of the biggies is what to do with existing branded overhead. I just visited CafePress and see a whole host of current wearables and premiums (coffee cups, etc.) that will be obsolete as soon as you “decide” on the new logo.
The sooner you make the decision, the sooner all of that tradeware becomes worthless, at least to the vast majority of WGA members.
What you do at this point is decide how serious you are about the update and how soon you want it to happen. I’d suggest a 2009 release to give you time no only to develop the final logo and get it positioned, but also to give you ample time to reduce the cost of the current wearables and push them through the end of the year into the holidays.
I have no idea how much overhead the WGA has, but with the variety of options, I’m sure it is substantial.
That’s just one of a number of things that need to be knocked around the table before moving forward…
05/24/2008 at 6:45 am #1884665I thought CafePress created goods on demand, so that there’s no big warehouse full of old coffee mugs and such. Perhaps I’m mistaken.
However, obsolete merchandise can certainly be used for contest prizes and such at WGA events. I would love to win (or buy) WGA stuff at events.
05/24/2008 at 6:32 pm #1884666Yep. CafePress is “on demand”, which is part of why their prices are so bad.
