My caches are so lonely…come find them 🙁
12/17/2007 at 11:45 pm #1882152Just an Idea, Could we put a cache out there that you get the cords when it is confirmed you got say, 500 points. Then the find itself would be a lonely cache?
12/18/2007 at 12:33 am #1882153Prizes? We’re talking prizes? You mean, if non-cachers ask us why we’re doing this we can say, “We want to win a prize?”
People would actually “get” it for a change, LOL. I just thought it would be fun for the sake of the fun, but hey. Prizes are cool!
12/18/2007 at 3:51 am #1882154Was I the only one who first thought this post was “Lonely Cachers”?
(so, I am feeling a little lonely — someone come find me! I’ll give you prizes too!!)
This lonely CACHES thing could be fun. I seem to cache better when I have a goal in mind.

12/18/2007 at 5:01 am #1882155Man, I should have read this forum before going out today. Found two caches that haven’t been logged since april, and June. Oh, well, I know there are others out there so “I’M IN”

12/18/2007 at 2:35 pm #1882157Count us in 8) . Rambling the countryside makes for some great lonely cache opportunities. With shocking regularity we find ourselves saying “My God, nobody’s been here since…”. We have seen other states’ Lonely Cache games and this could be a ton of fun, especially with automatic harvesting.
Off Topic, but another thought is that maybe the Cache Rescue function would be more active if there were a leaderboard for rescues. I think Michigan does it that way. Maybe Team B Squared knows?
12/18/2007 at 2:37 pm #1882158OK, here is the bookmark list for the game. This might get a little shorter if someone goes out and find any of them in the next two weeks.
I also have a map of the caches for you virtually inclined folks, but I have to upload it to my web server before I can add it here.
12/18/2007 at 3:15 pm #1882159There may be other caches that are not on the list as well. I went through my cache listings and found 2 of my own caches that are not on the list. Both have been more than 3 months without a find.
Riddler: The Beginning A VERY easy puzzle cache, especially for a Riddler cache
and
NEMESIS #1 Building Problems One of the easier of the NEMESIS series, and winter friendly as well.
12/18/2007 at 4:28 pm #1882160Is there something wrong with the cache list??
From page 12+ they are all the same. Is this the list or my computer not getting the updated pages?
12/18/2007 at 4:30 pm #1882161OK…I’m game.

It does that for me right from page one….all the same. I will run it as a query or something…..
12/18/2007 at 5:01 pm #1882163PCFrog gang will join in.
Is there a prize for having the lowest points? 😀
12/18/2007 at 5:24 pm #1882164Jay, I set the limit at 4 months, not 3, to keep the total under 500 caches. If your caches continue to be ignored, they will make the next game. 😀
Everyone else,
One of the problems with bookmarks is that long lists will sometimes break the program at geocaching.com. This issue has only existed for around 2 years or so. I guess they are working on it (NOT!) Usually it fixes with a reload or, better yet, change the “caches per page” to 50, which seems to work better. Just for fun, it would be good if everyone having this issue would send an email to [email protected] complaining about it.And yes, the idea is to turn this into a PQ and drop it into GSAK (or similar programs). This way, you can sort by distance, cache type, owner, terrain, etc.
PCFrog,
I don’t know about a low score award, though. I’m sure we will have a few people with 0, plus some people will try to win it by whining to get a big penalty, which I don’t want to encourage!12/18/2007 at 5:28 pm #1882165Sign me up as well…I need something to get me off my ever growing ass.
Also…I accept bribes for any of my caches that appear on the list and may just also happen to be a puzzle. -
