Just a quick reminder! If you are going to replace a missing cache, be sure to replace it with the same or very similar container type. If you can’t do this, either post an SBA note or contact the owner to get permission to change the container.
01/08/2008 at 5:23 pm #1882212Thanks, I remembered that rule and that’s why I’d contacted this cache owner in the first place. Plus I think it’s just a good idea to make sure it’s okay with the owners, contest or not.
Like I said, we’ll never catch folks like Sagasu or zuma, but it’s fun to try. The caches we did this past weekend that were lonely were among the most incredible caching experiences we’ve had. Go read about Shift MadCITXOC near Black River Falls. We’d have done it eventually, but going when we did made it more exciting.
Especially for some of us, right DOC.? 😉
01/08/2008 at 7:41 pm #1882213Birdin’, if you are implying that I don’t get out much, then you are absolutely correct! I apologize if my over-enthusiasm has been mistaken for a blast of oxygen finally reaching my brain and body. It’s blood flowing again! Woo Hoo!

I see Zuma posted a number of reports from December 1969!
Talk about time warping! Or in his case, perhaps it’s time walking?
I think it is just zuma being lazy. 🙂 His reports have been edited to have a valid date, and we’ve closed the “loophole” that let him get away with entering no date.
I also fixed a couple of sorting issues on the scoreboard and score sheets that were reported by some folks. If you experience any technical problems or have some ideas on how to improve the system, don’t hesitate to contact me.
01/09/2008 at 4:00 am #1882215One excellent improvement would be to double, no triple, my points, IF I ever enter anything!
01/11/2008 at 3:02 am #1882216I am really beginning to like this game!
I have so many caches on the list, that they are getting maintenance checks done for me.
Wondering what Dave is going to do after a couple of months?

Whoops, my bad. I couldnt figure out why some of my reports were lost in the ether, and now I understand it was cuz I forgot to click on the date window. Glad ya fixed that glitch.
Game is going great. Some of the places I have visited have reinforced my belief that some of the least visited caches are some that deserve to be visited the most. In Particular, The Bostwick Overlook just east of La Crosse was absolutely fantastic, and worth the 2 mile loop. Today Robin and I visited Wild Rice To Go, an old cache not often visited north of Turtle Lake and were blown away by the scenic beauty.
Looks like Sagusu is gonna win January, but hopefully Seldom Seen and I can give him a good race. Dave looks unstoppable though, this month, but we start over in February.
Thanks a ton Deejay for dreaming this up, and thanks Jeremy for all your work on the reporting page. I hope more people can get involved as time goes on, as this is a great game.

01/11/2008 at 4:04 am #1882218Wow! Ralph, you are already calling a winner for the month, and it’s got 20 more days to go!!!????
01/11/2008 at 12:46 pm #1882219Marc, go take a look at the scoreboard. There are three of them duking it out, with the rest of us picking up the crumbs, LOL. Maybe there’s some dark horse out there who has two weeks vacation coming up to blast out of nowhere, though.
Not us. LOL Bostwick is a cool cache. All of them up in that forest are cool caches. Just don’t go in the fog, or your 2 mile hike turns into a fiver.
While doing maintenance on one’s own cache, even. Yup. We got lost looking for our own cache on Sunday!
01/14/2008 at 1:13 pm #1882220With so many of my caches making the List, and Sagasu checking them out….
Where are the DNF logs?
Dave has found quite a few of the containers missing, yet I have not had any DNFs on these caches.
Time – again – to point out that logging DNFs is important for the owners to be alerted to a potential missing container.
01/15/2008 at 12:20 am #1882221that assumes people were able to solve the puzzles to go looking marc…
🙂
01/15/2008 at 2:13 am #1882222That just assumes that people wanted to do the caches.
01/15/2008 at 3:19 am #1882223Ohhh! My feelings are really hurt! 😥
01/25/2008 at 1:52 pm #1882224Should this cache be added to the current list? It hasn’t been found since the beginning of August, although there are a number of logs following that date in which Hotdogs Off the Trail were replacing and refinding the remains of the original that had been vandalized.
Just wondering. Not hunting now!

Not quite sure how I missed this one. I will add it.
