This fall’s “now we’re retired” trip will probably take us down to Louisville KY. I’ve been trying to locate a cache connected to the Louisville Slugger factory, but I’m guessing if such a thing exists, “Louisville” is not part of the name. I’ve tried that already.

So, does anyone know of one there? And are there any other “must dos’ to suggest? Cool history, hidden gems, fun hikes and the kind of stuff we like. Not looking for big numbers, so powertrails not needed. Thanks!

Here’s a ‘Challenge’ we see BBG recently did, so hopefully they’ll chime in. http://www.geocaching.com/challenges/CXB46_Thats_a_Big_Bat

I had thought that was it (and it looks like a cool stop), but I did finally do a little mapwork and found one at the factory/museum

One more attempt: The first cache is a multi that starts at the factory & museum. Perhaps some others or leads in here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?t=m&origin_lat=38.257241&origin_long=-85.763715&dist=2&submit3=Search

Cave Hill Cemetery – words can’t describe the beauty there. Tons of Earthcaches too! And check out the neighboring cemetery to it – run down and vandalized, so sad. Razor wire between the two. Never seen anything like it. We were just out there in June.

Churchill Downs, if you have not been there, is FUN! Loved it!

Agree, we spent all our time in Lousiville in Cave Hill Cemetery doing ECs & virtuals. An amazing place to explore.

The cache at the museum is GCG6PH . Sadly, we had to DNF it. We had limited time to search on our WI to FL roadtrip. We used the bat to complete two challenges:

              Outrageously oversized

              That’s a big bat

Not sure if you are ‘into this’ at all, nor whether the following cache, in particular, is very good, but we’ve visited Churchill Downs in the past (So OK, it was with a bunch of Equestrian-crazed 4Hers), and it is a really interesting piece of Americana we greatly enjoyed……..especially when we were able to take a tour of the stables, and watch some small races from track-side. This cache is near Churchill Downs, and the Kentucky Derby Museum.

Didn’t even think of Churchill Downs, but I already have all the stuff at Cave Hill Cemetery on my bookmark. There are a bunch of ECs on an island, but I don’t think we’ll have the time to get to those, which is a shame….looks like there are a lot of neat ones out there.

Im swinging down there myself while on my way to Florida and yes Cave Hill Cemetery caches seem to be on the list to do. I will also have to grab the Webcam also. and the virtual that seems to take you on quite a adventure.

Clayton, I saw the webcam also. Do you mean the Reflections virtual? That is intriguing.

Make sure you check the hours of the webcam, the office was closed when we passed through so I couldn’t grab that one.

yes the ‘Reflections virtual’ is the one that I was referring to.
it seems like a interesting experience.
do you qualify for the star studded challenge? GC2M0A9

Yep, got that on the list as long as we’re close by. We aren’t really looking for that kind of stuff, but……if it’s close and we qualify, we aren’t going to say “no’ and drive on by.
