If one has to hide behind a puppet account to post Needs Archived…then maybe one should not be posting them at all…
08/19/2008 at 10:28 pm #1894659Funny, I just got home now with no computer access since Friday. I was going to ask on these forums about this charachter. Looks like I am too late. I thought about shooting him/her an email, but I see now there is no point. Laughable.
08/20/2008 at 4:02 am #1894660Hey-
Looks like he/she has been screening caches as far east as Baldwin, WI as one of the Boris Badenov hides was hit with “needs archiving.”
We fixed that one but who is this moron?
I know I’ll ask The Shadow – ’cause “The Shadow Knows”

I have nothing nice to say, so…I did too. I think everyone who has a cache hide was probably hit. Actually, I find it amusing that this person could have the time to do all of this. I still can’t believe his/her talents were wasted when they could have put to good use on the “Off-Topic” thread. 😉

So what makes you think he/she isn’t a regular here…..get out the torches….and where is that dunk tank; let the interrogations begin.
It really was a silly stunt to pull but it did at the very least call attention to a growing need to us to police our caches a little better. However, with all the flooding this has not been a good year for cache maintenance issues.
08/20/2008 at 6:16 pm #1894664I thought this was a legit request becuase my cache had been disabled for a while. I didn’t know he was bugging everyone else too. I responded back via e-mail. I wonder if I gave my e-mail address to a weirdo?
08/20/2008 at 7:58 pm #1894665We weren’t hit… but then Mr. TE is very quick to always fix a cache if there is an issue. So were the ones hit only ones that needed maintenance? Maybe we are just too far north for the person to bother…

TEI think there was reasonable cause to issue the “needs maintenece” tag to most of them. That includes one of mine. I just haven’t had the necessary time to fix mine yet and it takes a special container.
08/20/2008 at 10:37 pm #1894667I think Lycoperdon did a big service by pointing out all of these that have been disabled for a long time. Maybe some of the caches around my area that have been disabled for a month, 2 months, even one that has been over 6 months on the disabled list will finally get something done with them.
Now if we could get Lycoperdon to go thru all the caches that have lots of dnf’s in a row and it pretty much looks like it is missing and mark them as needs archiving too that would be great. Since it looks like most of us are afraid to do it our selves.
08/21/2008 at 12:27 am #1894668😆 “wolf fart mushroom.” Dang, now that is a funny name. I have nothing else to add other than GETMEOUTDOORS has a totally cool avatar which would have made a great WGA logo! 😀

It might seem like a big service, but when you get at least 100 SBA notes in your email (as reviewers do), it starts to look a lot like spam.
08/21/2008 at 2:01 am #1894670Heck, if this Lycoperdon character was any kind of Wisconsin Geocacher he/she would just take it upon himself/herself to make repairs to the caches listed as needing help and should be archived. After these fixes were effected Lycoperdon could then log repairs have been made and all would be right with the world.
It is obviously Lycoperdon’s fault there are any problems here!
I believe almost all of us have provided assistance to one cache or another and that is generally recognized as normal Wisconsin Geocacher’s good deeds in action.
Good caching my friends.

Yeah, that would be wonderful if he/she did that 🙄 . Just like the person from Texas (not a sock puppet) that polices all the UP caches for us did for one of my caches that hadn’t been found for a long time. I knew it was still there, but that wasn’t good enough for him. So, I drove out and checked on it and it was still there all safe and sound. Just because there is a dnf or two doesn’t mean that it is gone for sure. People sometimes get lazy looking after a seeing a previous dnf log because they assume it is gone and don’t look as hard as they should, which can lead to a series of dnf logs. Even though I don’t care for the guy from Texas, at least he has the integrity to post all these logs under his account instead of hiding under a sock puppet.
08/21/2008 at 2:03 pm #1894672Lycoperdon is obviously a sock puppet account.
The reviewers get an email every time someone leaves a SBA log. The LAST thing our reviewers need is some vigilanty sending out hundreds of SBA logs. If there was a need for this, Groundspeak could easily create a search to find all the disabled caches. We don’t need some goof to do this for them.
SBA logs should be handled on an individual basis. If there is a cache you’ve visited and you feel needs to be archived for some reason, leave a SBA log. We don’t need people leaving hundreds of SBA logs for caches they haven’t visited, nor have any intention to visit.
I see Lycoperdom is now a banned member. Groundspeak has obviously caught wind of his/her B.S. and has suspended them for the time being.
If you happen to own a disabled cache that was SBA’s by this user, I’d be sure to leave a log that you plan to fix the cache. If the log goes ignored, it could give the impression that you are not maintaining the cache, or even maintaining the cache page.
