just found out something new in vmware fusion. using the unity view, i can put the icon for GSAK and mapsource onto my dock. click once and it launches fusion, windows, and then the program. excellent. it makes it so much easier for mark to get to the map program.
and using unity view, all my other windows programs are in a drop down box at the top of the screen. don’t even have to have the windows desktop showing.
Thanks, I’ll give that a try…..
Nice. There’s a similar function if you use Parallels, where you can make the Mac side aware of what applications you have installed on the Windows side and associate the file types as you wish. When I get a PQ in my email on the Mac side, I can right-click on it and “Open with GSAK” is one of the options. If I pick that, Parallels will fire up and launch GSAK to import the file.
I wonder if there’s any real difference between Parallels and VMWare? I think I just picked the former because I found a $20 off promotion before Christmas.
Either way, I’ve completely weaned myself off my old PC for geocaching-related stuff and now exclusively use the iMac.
