A co-worker decided to get a GPSr and give geocaching a try.
He got a Magellan Explorist 200.
Does any one know if it’s possible to turn OFF the WAAS and if so how?
I don’t see any setup choices for that and the Magellan website seems to be on the fritz.
Never mind … I found the “cheat codes” to turn off WAAS on a Magellan (with Garmins they give you a screen to do it).
The codes can be found at: http://www.gpsoz.com.au/waasoff.htm
Be proceed with caution, other sites list the same codes but indicate it’s possible to lock up your unit if you do it wrong … mainly be straying to some other hidden menu than “03”, so make sure your on “03” choice.
If your interested I have a word doc that has all the codes listed.
Also the explorist 100,200,300 don’t have a PC connection from the factory but there is one you can get for it now. there is a hidden port under the battery’s, under a small rubber plug. the only downside is having to remove the battery’s to access it.
