I realize there aren’t a lot of us, but just wanted to give a quick heads up to anyone who might be in the market for a new GPSr and plan on sticking to Magellan.
I found out at the Bash that Magellan has a customer loyalty program and will actually give you a decent amount for a trade in. I called today and listed a 4 year old Triton 500 to trade in for the Explorist 610. They are giving me $180 credit so my 610 will only be $269 ($130 cheaper than Amazon, cheapest place online). They are sending me the 610 immediately, and I can send back my Triton in the shipping box.
Just call their customer assistance line… I had it done in about 10 minutes.
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting one of the new explorists. The customer loyalty program is a great idea though I thought I saw somewhere that the unit that gets traded needed to be registered with Magellan and that only certain models were being accepted for trade (not the early explorists).
anyone that can clarify these points, please do.
Maybe I will just break down and call if I don’t get clarification.
uws22, let me know how you like the unit. I haven’t found too many that have purchased these yet.

Thanks, we are actually still using our original platinums we bought for geocaching. Work great and not ready to trade in yet. Nice to know if we ever do.

I’m not sure what the model limits are, but they did want the serial number of my unit to see if it was registered with them. they said I should have it in 3-5 days, so I’ll be sure to update once I receive it.
