This is in all seriousness. What would it take? Probably a sponser? Make paid presentations through the country? Be an “offical” tester on new GPS technology? I was just sitting at work all April, and not caching (zero finds all April), pondering “How nice would that be?” There has to be some clever people on these forums.

You could be a cache evaluator/travel guide. Go out to all the caches and evaluate how good they are, rate them with stars, something like those people who go to all the lodgings for AAA ratings. Or like those restaurant critics. Don’t tell anyone who you are if they see you at a cache–pretend to be a newbie or something. (And maybe COTM could become obsolete. 😉 )

Just think of the numbers if someone got paid to go geocaching!

But once you start getting paid and have to do something you usually slowly loose all the fun and enjoyment in it.

Bribes for what? The only thing I could think of would be doing a find for someone.

That was in reference to Sandlander’s cache evaluator idea. Bribes from the cache owner for high evaluations, recommendations, etc.

I have thought the same thing off and on for a long time. I think it’s time I got out of IT and found a real job.

Only way I thought of to cache for a living is to become a sales rep for one of the GPS manufacturers. Travel around to sports shows, Gander Mountain, Outdoor World and REI to give demos and educate people. After all the business is taken care of you could join a bunch of local cachers and hit the trails.

I like where your head is at frizz. I also like the idea of professional evaluator. I don’t think even if it was a job that over I would loose excitement or interest in it. Every day would bring a new challenge, a new puzzle, a new adventure, a new parking lot, a new dead-end.

I’ve taught other teachers about how to use caching in their classroom…I could start a presentation tour and charge to introduce it to teachers EVERYWHERE (enter evil laugh).

I’ve also had the discussion about the “cache tour guide” with other people. Like a fishing guide…charge people to take them to the hot spots, interesting caches, etc.

But, I like the idea of selling puzzle solutions… 8)

Why stop there. What do ya think a FTF is worth to a puzzle cache that hasn’t been solved for 3 months? DO I hear 20…now 30……40 from the cacher in the back row……….
