I have been thinking of doing a day marathon of easier caches in a high density area. I was thinking of either Sheboygan or down by Waukesha (sp). I am shooting for as many more than 25 as possible, since that’s my non event best day. I would be coming from Neenah.
Anyone game to pair up or figure out a fool proof itinerary for a fool?
Just a thought….nothing set in stone.IL and MN are good for easy high density areas. We just came back from a cache-o-licous cache-a-thon with WISearchers in Minneapolis and St. Paul and cranked our new daily record up to 48. Have fun!!!
The forest preserves around Tinley Park (SW suburb of Chicago) contain some of the best caching I’ve ever done. Not only can you park your car and knock out about 20-25 caches in one sweep, but you’ll cover some of the most beautiful terrain around.
Look for the “Lord of the Rings” caches as well as the Trivial Pursuit series.
The best part about Chicago Forest Preserves is that there is such a huge deer problem. The benefit there is that there is really not a lot of undergrowth because the deer have eaten at all… and you’ll see A LOT of deer!
The forest preserves around Archer Avenue and Willow Springs are loaded full of caches as well. These are my old stomping grounds from my childhood where I grew up. Good stuff…
P.S. For a bit of history: “Red Gate Woods” is the site of the first nuclear reactor – part of the Manhatten Project. You hike through the woods only to find the remnants of a huge laboratory foundation and various markers throughout the woods. This was last stop before moving the operation from the University of Chicago out to Los Alamos, NM.

Appollyon and I spent the day finding caches on the way to Sheboygan. It was a warm day with lots of Skeeters, but I would call it a sucess!
I blew through 200 cache finds big time on my week off and Appollyon pulled up 4 short of 100, but was hoping to put #100 on a special cache any ways!
I did about 100 in the last moth alone and would kind of like to nail down 300 this year yet! Time will tell.

I see the density in that area is high! Not sure when I will make it down there though. Looks like some good ones too!Yeah… it can really make for a fun day. I’m not a big “summer” cacher. Too hot, too many bugs, etc… Fall and winter caching are our favorites. I would head down there on an October weekend, pack a picnic lunch and go out in search of about 25 caches. It can be done… and the terrain is unreal!

I did this one last year, and knocked off 27 caches while only moving my car twice. There’s a nice path system, and some of the terrain is very challenging, especially for the Lord of the Rings series. I’m not sure if the Trivial Pursuit caches are still there, however.
