While I am sure many of you know me, I also know there have been many new geocachers this past year as a result of the pandemic.  This lines up with my philosophy on life – even in the most challenging situations – there are silver linings.  My husband is actually the one who started us geocaching back in 2005. Our good friend WalkingAdventure introduced him. To be honest, I did not get the fascination for several years. Once I figured out the fun to be had, I was hooked and the rest is history!

Roger and I enjoy traveling, hiking and spending time with our family. We have three grown kids, all married, and three sweet granddaughters. This past year, we decided to tackle hiking the Ice Age Trail by segment with the goal of eventually hiking all 1200 miles. While this will take several years, we have a good start and have enjoyed being able to do this together.

My favorite geocaches include the oldies, especially those that include hiking, puzzle caches and challenge caches and those on the Lonely Cache Game list. I like to have goals to work on and both the puzzle and challenge caches provide such. Another personal goal is keeping our non-traditional finds 20% or higher.

I have hosted several events over the past years, teaming up with Ranger Boy and Silyngufy on Clue and Trivia Events that have been fun for the geocaching community. I worked with chevyole to reestablish the Gifted Snowbuster Event last year and it will be held again this year on January 10th. This is an event that GR8 EYES and others birthed years ago and it has been fun to build on what they established. I have also been a part of hiding for the West Bend Cache Ba$h the past four years and have had the pleasure of working with some pretty great hiders.

I have been actively involved with the WGA over the years, volunteering at Pancake Breakfasts, administrating the travel bug race and promoting the Lonely Cache Game.  I love reaching out to newer caches and getting them involved in some of the “games within the games” offered through geocaching. If elected to the WGA Board, I will continue to do the same – reaching out not only to newer geocachers, but also geocachers who may be flying under the radar unaware of all that geocaching and the WGA have to offer. I would also like to see a new “state” series established, similiar to the State Park Series. I think we could do something similiar with State Trails and/or other State properties.

If elected, I look forward to building upon what previous and current members of the WGA have established! Please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have.

The views expressed here are that of myself only and do not necessarily represent that of the WGA board.
