I guess some people have their dogs registered, seriously! One person on the forum even considered registering as a dead guy for a cache he wants to do. 😯
Takes all kinds…
05/09/2008 at 5:00 pm #1885818Just a few updates. The attendees are rolling in, but if you are on the fence about coming, be sure to get your attended log in soon. We are cutting off the date for the registration right now at 7/31/08, and may move that date up due to printing issues with the booklets. This would only be for the large cash prizes, anybody can come if they wish of course for the event and smaller prizes. We are already nearing 50 cache locations (poor reviewers 😉 ) and believe it or not, have more than we probably need 😯 soooo – MORE SPOTS FOR NEXT YEAR! 😛 We have a nice assortment of both urban and park caches from micros to 13 (don’t faint) ammo cans 😮 (which we may get more of since many of the hides are med to large size). We also updated the flash mob event for Sunday, see the cache page for more details. Still looking for a meet and greet for Friday – we are waiting to see how large this gets. Hope to see you there – and also more VIP’s from the board!
Ooops forgot to add, be sure to bring your swag along as many of these caches will have goodies in them to trade!
05/12/2008 at 10:04 pm #1885819Sounds like a lot of fun and I’d love to go, but I’ll be on a plane to Vancouver for a much needed vacation. Best of luck with the event and I look forward to hearing about all the fun when I get back.
05/19/2008 at 7:14 pm #1885820Another update:
The THINK, DRINK AND COIN CLINK, will be held on 8/15/08 from 7-11 p.m. This will be a meet and greet at Muggles Tavern (N43 25.337 W088 10.936) to strategize about the next day’s event and exchange coins or pathtags. Located in Muggle’s Bar (isn’t that fun!), come and enjoy some drinks and fun with fellow cachers. Plan out your strategy for the next day’s event. Which teams you will go with? Will you be sharing a car to avoid traffic jams? This will be another event for you to log for the weekend with another attended log (this was the approved way to do this per the geocaching.com reviewers). There is even a permanent cache located right across the street! This is located in the heart of downtown West Bend where there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby to enjoy an evening meal out as well. Muggle’s also sells glasses and other nice items with the “MUGGLES” logo on them for fun and for souveniers. 😀05/20/2008 at 12:41 am #1885821How Ironic is that? 😈
WGA is getting away from logging multiple attended logs at WGA events YET our approvers via geocaching.com reviewers will NOT let West Bend also host an “adult event” Friday night that stands on its own nor a Flash Mob event on Sunday that stands on it’s own (meaning it gets it’s own cache page)? They want them to log multiple attended on the $1000 Cache Ba$H page for the other 2 events.
If you look up geowoodstock 6 they have 7 events within 5 days and they ALL get their own cache page!!! 🙄
Someone please explain! Tami
05/20/2008 at 4:45 am #1885822Yes, I will explain. I would have approved the meet and greet event immediately when I saw it, but the listing didn’t have a start time. I told the owner that I would approve it as soon as the start and end times wer added. You might actually check with the “cache owner” before making incorrect claims in the forums. (Incidentally, the date is incorrect on this event as well, but I didn’t catch that the first time.)
The event guidelines do not allow events to be stacked on the same day in the same general location by the same owner or group of owners. This is considered to be all part of the same event. The listing for the flash mob clearly stated that it was part of the main event, so obviously it did not “stand on its own.” Again, you might actually read what was sent to the cache owner before making claims.

05/20/2008 at 12:11 pm #1885823Thanks for the explanation…..when someone submits an error on a new cache submission, the WGA approvers will “guide” them through what they need to change for approval. If that’s all that needed to be done was the start up time why did you have to go through groundspeak? It’s hard for me to believe that groundspeak would encourage multiple attended logging for 3 events under one event. This was very disconcerting for me.
Tami
05/20/2008 at 2:28 pm #1885824The first event submitted was for Sunday, 8/17/08 and it was submitted correct on dates, etc.. and has been approved now. Thank you! This was originally listed on the main cache page to get the word out about the weekend until we had all the “details” worked out, then we intended to make them separate events once we figured out the logistics of it all. Yep, I screwed up on the Friday event and did not put the time for the event and the date was messed up (me bad) 😳 😛 . Fixed and has now been approved so we are good to go for two more events for the weekend! 😀 Hope to see you all there! GC1CDGQ, and GC1CDJ6.
05/20/2008 at 2:36 pm #1885825Boy howdy, that there strike a pose event sure does look like fun…

WGA approvers Tami
Just a small clarification — the reviewers are not WGA approvers. It’s confusing because of the fact that our reviewers are in the WGA, and some use the designation “WGA”. Reviewers are part of Groundspeak (more or less) and are for the state of Wisconsin. Technically, they have no association with the WGA (although they really do, just not when the reviewer hat is on).
I know, thoroughly confusing.

05/20/2008 at 3:17 pm #1885827LB 7, coming as a cowboy by chance? 😀 Bec, thanks for the clarification on the reviewer thingy – all good now – events ok’d so we are in good shape. Are ya coming? You could wear all gray and strike a pose like you are howling! HA! 😯 😀
05/20/2008 at 3:40 pm #1885828😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Super! Terrific! Fantastic! Well Done! Teamwork! Great! Awesome!Could someone please change the date to 8/16/08 on the WGA Events page for the West Bend $1000 Cache Ba$h? It currently reads 8/15. Thanks! Tami

Quite the opposite actually. Cowboys see my type like they see armadillos…just another speed bump. IF I get out for this I would dress as a biker. With over 30 kits in the closet I could dress as Sponge Bob or Lance Armstrong…and many others in between…Black flames, red flames, yellow flames, a Yoohoo can, solid blue or red speed jerseys, Tour of Hope jerseys…in red, yellow or blue, I have the ol question mark jersey…that’s one of my faves…I think I have nearly as many jerseys as I have multi-cache finds.

Couldn’t find a pic of my favorite jersey but it can be seen a little in this pic from GPS:TheGame.05/20/2008 at 4:20 pm #1885830LB7 😀 😉
