Any idea what the road to the parking area is like?

I have no problem with this. I have solutions for the Doctor and Call. Will look if I have any others.
Well, the cache owner might! 😉 Actually, though I’ll take help on hard puzzles when I’m stuck, I really do enjoy the “figgering” part of the game.
The only other puzzles there we have left are the other two mural ones. I tried getting some info for one of them, but sort of fell flat and quit.

Well, three years ago it was a nice plowed road. Assume it will still be so.
I believe the road is plowed as well. However, remember that it is a moderate walk back to the cache and I would highly recommend snowshoes at this time of the year.

Yea, that one’s a breeze in the winter. The only trouble we had was trying to figure out how to get to stage 2 without having to drive around some private property. I’m sure there’s some way but on the field, it was hard to tell which way to go…. our compass seemed to point straight across the nearby fence that had signs posted. If you do your homework before you go to know where the park boundaries lie, I’m sure it would be a beautiful walk. Even with driving, it was still quite nice and easily findable in snow.
As far as this Saturday goes, I would love to come along. But I’ll have to get “clearance” from “the tower”. If you catch my meaning there. 😉 😆 😳
I would still like to meet up Saturday morning, but they are now talking about possible freezing rain in the afternoon. This is looking more like a last minute decision for me. Hopefully I will know later in the afternoon. How much snow is being called for in Point?
We will be there for sure tomorrow. One kid is probably out (sleep over party) and the other is iffy. Weather forecast for Point from Intellicast:
Snow showers early becoming more scattered later. High 26F. Winds E at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Saturday night: A wintry mix, especially in the overnight hours. Low 23F. Winds E at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of precip 70%.
There will be hot apple cider/ coffee/ hot chocolate as promised from 8:30- 9:00 AM. Last minute hikers are no problem at all. The only problem would be if folks want to borrow snowshoes and we don’t have enough. We have two pair of Quicksilver 25’s we can lend. They are very small shoes for small folks or hard-packed trails. We may also have a pair of Quicksilver 30’s or two that we can lend depending upon whether the kids come or not. None of these snowshoes are great for deep powdery snow, which is what we have right now. But they’re way better than no snowshoes at all.
Then there’s the pair of untested scout-made PVC snowshoes (though I think Mathman has claimed them). I also have a pair of traditional snowshoes that have bindings that never seem to stay on and will likely cause the snowshoes to fall off three or four times on a trip of this length (Hey, the price is right for using them anyway).
Don’t forget some water, and it looks like the wind will be coming off the marsh and it has a LONG way to build up steam. We can always hike on the other side of the pines to buffer the wind but it would be wise to have headgear that can handle cold wind.
I plan on being there and of course depend’s on weather, will be using cross country skis, I always have to do things different.
The appleton group – myself, k0rpl, benny7210 and lone gunman – will leave here at 7AM.

Mrs. OPS has two gallons of special-brew apple cider cooling off on the front porch so there will be plenty no matter how many folks show up. Coffee will be instant (hey, I know, but it will still be good when you’re standing in the snowbank), and there’s a bunch of hot chocolate packets. We have cups and spoons so we’re good to go.
I’ve printed off an aerial photo, snowshoes are piled up by the door, and the stockings are hung by the chimney with care (wait, think I’m losing it). I have packed a hammer and a chisel as the last time I hiked all the way back there I couldn’t bust the ammo can out of the ice.
We’re off to go tubing for the evening, see y’all in the morning. I have no idea if the parking area will be plowed but if it’s not we’ll just have to park along the road.
