I was sitting in my deer stand the other night thinking (‘cuz there were no deer around) and had a “brainstorm” for a new puzzle cache. The thought is a large multi stage where you would begin at a designated spot and would be given an option of going East (100′) or West (200’). From each of these new spots you’d have other options for various directions and/or distances. The end game is to figure out the actual maze layout by keeping track of where you’ve been and where you could go. Not sure if I’d allow dead ends or allow circular routes to get to the final.

I’m wondering if anyone has seen anything like this, cached any like this, designed any, etc. The section of land is 20 acres of relatively flat land with a mixture of woods, active fields, etc. My thought is to make the cache available Jan – Sept (disabled for hunting season) and then redo the maze for the next season with new starting / mid / ending points.

A potential issue is maintenance for a large number of waypoints, but it’s private land, so muggles shouldn’t be a problem. If successful on a small scale – I have a contact with some DNR land (80+ acres / non-huntable) that I’d like to attempt something similar (or partner with someone).

May want to run your idea by Wis Kid to make sure there are no issues with what you are proposing before building anything complex that you would have to undo or re-work. He may have some tips on how to set it up in the website as well.

Sounds pretty cool. Never did anything like that myself.

I’m not sure if something like that will fly with the reviewers or not, but it sounds like fun! If it doesn’t work out, you could try something like this. This is my sons first puzzle cache.
