    What brought you into geocaching?

Me- I heard about it on a message board I visit and thought it sounded perfect for me with my 3 boys So, for my oldests 11th birthday, I bought him a GPS’r and we were off and running!

Great question, because I have an interesting answer (at least I think it’s interesting) ….

March 04 – I was mad at the town for not putting a “logical” warning sign at the end of our road, I knew there was aerial map software online but could not remember what the website was, so while search on some keywords, I found geocaching.com by mistake, looked interesting, I had a GPSr, but didn’t do anything.

April 04 – Me and the Misses decided to store the kids at grandma’s and go to a bed and breakfast in Horicon for our wedding anniversary, we were trying to think of something different to do while there that would get us outside (besides the marsh, of course). Suddenly I remembered geocaching.com!

April 23 04 – Our wedding anniversary … at the bed and breakfast and spent the afternoon geocaching … we’re hooked!

(So it will always be easy to remember the day we started, it’s inside my wedding ring)

My dad (rpaske) got into the hobby a few years ago. Then my brother got into it. then, after a couple years of mocking on my part, I purchased my GPSr, and got into the hobby.

I read an article about geocaching in a Better Homes and Gardens Magazine in the summer of ’03. Sounded like the perfect blend of technology and being outside for our family. It’s pretty much Mama Fishcacher’s hobby now.

greyhounds brought me to geocaching. Heard mention of it on a greyhound message board, forgot about it for about a year, and then remembered it again…the rest is history.

I had been really interested in orienteering, but that just seemed a bit too intense for me. The possiblity of getting horribly lost was too great. Hence, geocaching — I can now claim that I am never lost!

During May of 04 a friend of mine, Snowgoose Two, asked if I liked scavenger hunts. Of course I said yes, she already knew that we loved being outdoors and had camped a lot in the past. Since our kids now had jobs we were tied to the house and our camping days had been come very few. She explained Geocaching to me and then I to my hubby, who thought I was a bit too excited about starting a new hobby, but he was also looking for a reason to buy a GPS. After he looked at the Geocaching site he knew it was a great hobby for us. He bought a GPS and learned how to use it. The minute our company left on Memorial Day, and even though it was drizzling out we went to find our first cache. In 15 minutes from leaving our house we were successful. We have now cached during every month of the year and hope to be well past the 400 mark by our first anniversary of caching.

So if the two teams got together you could probably solve both problems at once!
