    Alert the censors:

One day in the hospital, two little boys were lying on stretchers next to each other outside of the operating room.

The first boy leans over and asks, “What are you in for?”

“I’m here to get my tonsils out and I’m nervous,” the second boy says.

The first kid says, “You’ve got nothing to worry about! I had that done when I was four.

They put you to sleep and when you wake up they give you lots of ice cream and Jell-O. It’s a breeze!”

“Well what are you here for?” the second kid asks.

“A circumcision.” The first kid replies woefully.

The second kid says “Wow! I had that done when I was born and I couldn’t walk for a year!”

The only somewhat acceptable joke on this subject available Greyhounder.

Lets all play nice in the sandbox. If you throw sand in someone’s eyes, it hurts. Lets get back to playing with our toys and leave the sand throwing to the GC.com forums.

Ok I’ve never posted before – usually Chad’s the poster – but this is sad. Message boards aren’t always supposed to be “nice.” They are for trying to fix things also. If someone sees a problem they should be able to say something about it without being told they should always play “nice.”

I agree this is a family board, but Lotsacache Jr’s aren’t reading it. I would only ask that things said are truthful and self censored – no four letter words.

If I don’t agree with something the board has decided, I should be able to say so.
    Just my two cents…

I think forums SHOULD be all about being “nice.” Why not? We can still work to fix problems but we can do it with respect and civility. Rather than letting no four-letter words be the guideline, how about a more stringent guideline: Would you say the same things to other people face to face that you say in the forums?

I do write like I speak, just more clearly.

Fact is that although “nice” can be a lot of fun on the outside, it’s often not truthful or factual. Sometimes we need to be told when we are out of line. Is this a problem? Only if we refuse to realize our own faults. After having read what I believe was the post in question, it’s even more baffling to me. There were no four letter words and there was no attack. It was merely the facts, and sometimes the facts are not pretty.

Is doing this through private e-mail a better solution? Sometimes, Perhaps; but by posting to the boards we enable others to participate, which in turn is more likely to reveal who is right or wrong. In the end it’s all about doing what needs to be done. In the future, why not allow the masses of our membership their own right to judge a post instead of allowing one or two the control of everything that takes place within the forums? If not, maybe we should start a private forum for everyone who is not wearing rose-colored glasses.

Perhaps looking more at how to fix problems as they arise instead of ignoring them or covering them up would be a better solution.

I REALLY did not want to add any more to this thread…….

Of course everyone is a little bit right about this subject.

No one should be allowed to use words we would find profane (the notorious 4 letter ones) on the forum.
In the case of the letter that was deleted, I do not remember any four letter words used.

Another point that disturbs some of us is that the WGA “administrators” feel this is their own forum and they have the right to lock topics at will and censor if the subject matter does not suit them.

I am quite sure the majority of members of WGA do not agree with the board members having this right without full review by the entire board. Thats why we have 9 of you on the board isn’t it?

So lets honestly discuss this, the letter deleted pointed out that one member of the board was going a bit far with their advice on behalf of the board and speaking for the board. The author of the deleted letter challenged them on this and was promptly censored.
This is not about four letter words, its about the board or a board member not liking being criticized. So lets quit making people think that some obscene letter was deleted.

The idea of not saying what you would when face to face with the person is great also, and I think the author of the letter would have said the same things as in the letter, face to face.

If the board does not agree and feels the forum is for them to decide about, lets have an online poll of what the membership thinks.
I think everyone knows how this would turn out so it really is not needed.

On the email idea, I did trade emails with a board member recently and their letter contained a profane word in it. Just goes to show you that we are not safe anywhere.

Agreed, there was no profanity used.

The right to moderate, edit, delete, belongs first to Elknet, secondly to the WGA and thirdly to the users of the forums. The rights of the administrators, moderators or directors are granted to them by the membership of the WGA.

The post in question was deleted in concurrence with a majority of the board. There was no descent.

The post in question was taken as an unprovoked personal attack, destructive in nature.

This was never suggested by the board.

The author of the post in question may have said these things face-to-face, but I would hope that we would have more tact than that. This would not have changed the nature of the message.

That sounds like a personal matter between you and the board member you were corresponding with.

Everyone could banter back and forth about this forever. If the letter had not been deleted, the subject would have been closed and forgotten long ago. Each person could decide on their own of the merits.

Certain members of the board seem awful defensive lately. You all need to lighten up and remember about all the fun.
Thumper the rabbit would be unhappy with some of you.
