12/07/2011 at 8:04 pm #1954814OK Here is the information for the Million Pound Challenge.
You must sign yourself up.
The MILLION POUND CHALLENGE starts JANUARY 1 2012 butyou can sign up ANYTIME before it starts or after it starts.Go to: http://www.princetonclub.net/mpc
From their homepage click on “Sign up”.
Fill in the usual information…if you do want to put in your phone number just use a fake 1.When you get to the spot….”Do you want to join a team?” click YES.
From the list off the teams look for “WISCONSIN GEOCACHERS” & click on that one.Next you will have the chance to choose what food bank you want your loss donation to go to. If you do not see a food bank from your area just choose any food bank you would like to help.
For those who do not want to have their weigh broadcasted on here it will not be shown on any page but YOUR OWN profile page. However the amont of weight you lose (ex. 5# or 1 1/2#) will be shown in the total for the WHOLE GROUP.
You will see your name as well as your email address on the team’s home page.
As of 2pm 12/7/11 Team Wisconsin Geocachers is not on the list shown HOWEVER it is registered & is on the list of teams to choose from. After this gets going our team will be displayed by rank (total #’s lost). I will keep you updated weekly after the challenge starts as to where our team stands with other teams.Any questions email me ok???
Any of you who have mentioned you want to sign up or are interested in signing up I will be messaging you thru here later but for now it is nap time lol

Thanks for signing up!!!!!!!!!
After the challenge begns I will be keeping the team updated on our standings.
12/08/2011 at 4:26 am #1954819I signed up, but I’m kind of disappointed that our local food bank wasn’t listed like it was last year. If they show up on the list later, I’ll see if I can change that then.
I liked having the email reminder sent each week (check that box) because I forgot to log in a couple of times. I also have the login page bookmarked so I can go there anytime I want to.
I reached my weight goal last time, but I struggled starting out. I upped the exercising as the weather got nicer in the spring, and that helped. Going after it again this year, and working with and for a group really helps.
12/08/2011 at 2:52 pm #1954820Great idea to get us motivated and donating to a good cause.
I was signing up and noticed that you can select exercise time instead of weight loss – 10 pounds food donated per hour of exercise rather than per pound of weight lost. It seems to me that I could donate a lot more food by using exercise rather than weight, and I see the Wisconsin Geocachers listed as a team for exercise, too.
I guess my question is – are you going to see how we stand compared to other teams based on food donated, or based on weight lost? If by weight lost I stay on that program, but if by food donated I’ll switch to exercise. Thanks.
12/08/2011 at 6:24 pm #1954821I signed myself up – and I’m sure I can talk the Mr into joining as well
12/08/2011 at 7:15 pm #1954822I haven’t heard of any of the food banks on the sign up page….. Are any of them in the Wausau area?

I just wrote an email to the Princeton Club ask them if it is the total food donated with exercise AND weight loss or is it just for weight loss.
On the Wisconsin Geocaching team page for exercising does it have a list of members for that team? If my name (blue cougar) is on it then it is for both weight loss & exercising & will be the total of food donated. I will let you know as soon as I find out for sure.

I wish there were a few local food pantrys in our area that would be on the list.
I couldnt find any local to the Wis Rapids/ ST Point area so I selected “Central Wi CAC Adams food pantry”. You could choose any one you want. If I didnt choose the 1 I did I would have chosen the “Salvation Army Food Pantry” Sorry I can not be more of a help with this question.12/08/2011 at 10:19 pm #1954825@blue_cougar54494 wrote:

If I didnt choose the 1 I did I would have chosen the “Salvation Army Food Pantry” Sorry I can not be more of a help with this question.Since the Princeton Club is organizing this, and they are based in Madison with two clubs there and only one other club in the state (New Berlin), I would assume that the lack of local food pantries listed for the other parts of the state is because of where the Princeton Clubs are located. You can choose an organization such as Second Harvest or others that are not so regional, or just choose a group that appeals to you.
Becky, I did not see the Central WI CAC listing for Adams County when I signed up, so I tried to change it. This can be done, but I had to send an email to the guy in charge (this question is asked and answered on the web site). It appears to be no problem now, but once pounds of food are being earned for a group, it’s harder to switch. I’ll let you know how my attempt is handled.
12/08/2011 at 11:28 pm #1954826I just received am email from the Princeton Club about food donated by weight loss vs exercise. Each person participating gets to choose whether they want to commit to exercise or weight loss. Food will be donated which ever way they decide to go. So if you would like to exercise then weight loss by all means go ahead. If you are on a team it will help either way. I hope this clears up how food is donated.
