Milwaukee just launched their GeoTour. Here’s the website: http://www.visitmilwaukee.org/geocache

Limited prizes and geocoins and you can check out a GPS unit from VISITMilwaukee if you need one. What a nice day to call in sick from work (hint hint).

Looking forward to logging them all on Saturday. The geocoin looks nice.

Thats What all those Notifications were 🙂 I am planing a Day long caching trip for next tuesday – with the end being The Rave for a show…. Possibly going to have to redo my plans and get the tour…

Milwaukee Fox6 news about VISIT Milwaukee’s launch of 15 caches called “Discover Milwaukee’s neighborhoods.”

I found 4 of the 15 so far. They didn’t place caches in the residential central city, focusing mostly on the city’s east and south sides and the downtown area. We love them!

I’m not sure how long the caches will last. Three of the four caches are not very sturdy containers (the covers don’t stay on very well), and some are in high muggle areas that likely will be gone in a matter of weeks. It will be interesting to see what they do for cache maintenance. 8)

We had a great time finding these today. We found a total of 11. We turned the pins in and received a t-shirt and passes and gift certificates for around the Milwaukee area. It was a great promotion 🙂

I’d really like to go find them. I’m far too busy right now though. I suppose by the time I get around to them all the good stuff will be gone. It does sound like a great promotion though!

We found 4 out of the 5 we tried yesterday. The one we DNF’d was in a very high muggle area so we’re thinking that the cache was gone.

Thank you to all who have been able to get out and experience our GeoTour! We are working hard to keep the caches safe from muggles and in good spots for everyone to enjoy. 😀

We appreciate all of the great feedback and comments about the GeoTour. Keep them coming!

We found all 15 of the series. Therefore I have now visited spots of Milwaukee now that I have not been to before, touched stuff I didn’t think was possible in downtown Milwaukee, and had a lot of Friday night excitement. Thank you visit Milwaukee for the fun series.

I think that this is a GREAT idea, as I have been working with Green County Tourism on using this crazy sport to attract people for several years. I hope that your caches remain in good shape, as I will probably go visit them after my July 4th show in Washington Park. Did you have help from an experienced cacher in placing them? Are any of them placed where one should not be seeking them late at night? After my show, I have been coming back into Milwaukee and going caching until sunrise. 🙂 It is very quiet and a very different view of the city when no one is around…except those crazy bread truck drivers. 😆

Thanks for your comment! So far we’ve only had a few muggled/get misplaced. We do hope you can visit them after the July 4th show!

We worked with CaLoRie (who started this post!) on ideas and concepts last year. We are still thinking of editing a few of the placements as we get more feedback on the series.

We haven’t had any issues with night finders yet – all the places we chose are safe and accessible no matter what the time of day!

I saw a facebook post that there were a couple of cachers who have completed the Discover Milwaukee caches !!
