I’ll elaborate later, but I’ve decided to start giving what I call a “Minus One” award.  There are certain caches out there that I really wish I could take away a favorite point, that’s where the name comes from.  I’m still deciding if I should give this award as I come across caches I think deserve such a dubious honor, or if I should make it an annual contest.

I know what you mean, we’ve encountered some with favorites that made us go “hmmm,”  but everyone has different standards, and we try to live by the motto…”though shalt not cache and whine.”

    But… I hear you!

I have two DNF’s yesterday, and the one that bothers me I don’t even remember the name.  It will probably go on my ignore list sooner or later.  I speak not of the tree climber.

There are a couple out here that I have mentioned in my log that they get an “unfavorite” point. The top of that dubious list goes to a micro at the top of a 1000′ hill that disappeared in the two years since it was found. As I was texting the last two finders, after making the climb in a cold drizzle, they informed me that not only was it a mirco, but it was a duct tape pocket stuck between a concrete slab that once anchored a radio tower and the grass surrounding it. I will guarantee you that it got eaten by rodents up there – or tossed away by the kids that go up there to drink. So many good places to hide something more than a micro, and you put a stupid duct tape pocket and tuck it into the ground.

Having said all of that, I see someone found it a month after me… GC3ECAW

Wow, that person sure does get around! Finds in so many states, and the DR most recently. Make you wonder how someone travels so much 🙂

Probably my least favorite find was under a bridge, and the only way I could tell it was the cache was that someone had written “GEOCACHE” on the lid of the container.  Otherwise it looked just like all the other garbage laying around.

I’m safe so far. I don’t think I have seen any Hodagging found logs on my caches yet so have at it. If I do win an annual award someday I would like I to be a joyous affair with in which to accept such award and to give my speech of acceptance.

I have a couple of Minus 1 caches for the experienced cachers, but they are 5* finds for the handicapped and special needs hunters (according to the “Found it” logs). Different strokes…

Should I go out of my way to find one of your caches now?  I’m sure you hide what I might consider a plus 1 cache.

WA, is that a hint on any of Team Northwoods, or any of yours?  I seem to remember DNF’ing one of yours in/by/close to/in the general vicinity of High Cliff recently.

    It was more about TNW.

Not sure how you missed Great Reception? Camo tape test tube up about 12 ft up the tree (1.5D/3T). Three finders since your stop and following the path north from the parking lot near the dumpsters was the closest parking and from there it was a short walk to the tree line. Oh well, they aren’t Pokémon- you can’t catch them all.

Could be the fact that it’s 12 feet up a tree.  I exclude the tree climber attribute from my pocket queries, just sayin’.

That would explain it. There used to be a different attribute but a grumble was uttered and that fun one was changed. It was the antenna/wireless beacon attribute which referenced the name and the nearby beacon to the NE.

I don’t remember ever seeing that attribute, and I can only imagine what the grumble would be.  I would think that this was a fairly recent grumble since you only placed Great Reception in May.  That and the PUC cache are currently on my ignore list because they’re both beyond what I’m capable of doing to grab a cache, I know I can’t get them all.
