We launched four travel bugs in June and now it looks like only one is around. Lost Boy made it to one cache and was lost ( we did recieve an email from the dad telling us it was lost.
Greener was taken in Colorado, when the cache was stolen.
Big Bucks was taken by someone who never logged a cache, but became a member when they took the tb.
So we are very sad! Does anyone else have missing bugs, and feel the pain?
We found something that might help, here is a cache to check out:Travel Bug Graveyard

08/25/2004 at 3:54 am #1737355I definitely feel your pain. I’m a big train buff so we released four “railroad themed” bugs last year. It was one train. An engine, a tender, a tank car and a caboose. We labeled each one a different “express” and attached a tag to each.
“Walt Disney World Express” was intended to ride the train at Disney World in Orlando, FL. It went missing immediately after we placed it in a cache in Chicago.
However…
“Chunnel Express” wants to ride the Chunnel between England and France. It is currently on the east coast awaiting transportation to Europe.
“Disneyland Express” achieved its goal. It traveled to California and rode the train at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. It’s on its way back to Green Bay.
“NYC Express” achieved its goal. It traveled to New York City and rode the subway. It is now in Georgia and slowly making its way back to Green Bay.
Long story short (too late)… I really got down about the first one that was lost. However, I’m pretty excited about the two that made it and the other one that is still on its way!!! Release some more!!!!
Here are some pics:

The Travel Bug Graveyard is a good place to put missing bugs. You can also mark a travel bug you own or a travel bug listed in a cache you own as in an unknown location. There will be a drop down menu in the upper right corner on the TB page with a choice for “mark bug missing”.
Don’t give up hope yet. Surprisingly, one of our school travel bugs was believed to be missing because a cache got stolen, but ended up being logged a few months later. It traveled between a couple of caches and wasn’t getting logged. Keep your fingers crossed. Someone may have those bugs and will log them or they’ll turn up somewhere.
08/25/2004 at 3:13 pm #1737357I have 8 released…as far as I can tell, 7 are still going. Well, somewhat recently anyway. One’s been held for over a month but the person has been on the website more recently so I don’t know if it was lost or if they just haven’t gotten out to drop it yet. The person is a longtime cacher who’s moved a number of TBs though so I have more faith in him than I would otherwise have.
One of my Tbs made it to Shawano, then was picked up and never heard from again. The holder has an unverified e-mail on the site and hasn’t logged in forever. I believe she just got into it for a week or so then quit.
Then there’s my little Simon. That one was in a cache in Shiocton that was washed away in the floods this spring. I gave up on it, sad that it had only gone 18 miles before being swept away. I marked it as in an unknown location, then three months later someone happened to find the entire cache 10 miles from Shiocton. Wow. This person created an account to let me know and placed it near Keshena with directions to find it (not coords because the person isn’t a geocacher).
“Really I’m not lost”- who I’m very grateful to for this- was nice enough to go up there and rescue the cache/Simon. He’s gone almost 300 miles since then and is now in a cache in northern Wisconsin.
