Bill’s daughter Becky just posted in a facebook group that he lost his fight with cancer this morning.  Bill was a great guy and an avid placer.  I know we’re just one of many teams who’ve enjoyed a lot of fun outings with him and Vicki.  Becky shared that they will be hosting a memorial on August 19, which would have been their 50th anniversary.

I know there are a lot of sad people in our community today.  RIP Mister Greenthumb

Just heard the news.  Very sad!  I took one of his 101 classes when I was first starting out.  He will be missed!

My condolences to his family.  It looked like he was doing better these last couple of weeks, and even got out to find a cache or two.

Oh, no!  I had thought he was improving; so sad to hear this.  At the first Cache Ba$h, he took time on the trail to show me a few features of my GPSr.  He will be missed by so many.

He will definitely be truly missed by many of us. He went out fighting and doing what he loved to do best.

Our sincere and deepest sympathies go out to his family. RIP MGT!

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

OMG! What a shocker!!! Am so sad for Vicki and Bill’s family. It seemed like just a couple of years ago they spent their anniversary in Oconto caching the Yellow Brick Road. Like everyone in the caching community, I’m going to miss him 🙁

So sad to hear that we lost one of our Geocaching family members. His caches in the SE part of the state have been responsible for so many laughs, smiles and great memories when we have visited the area. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mister Geenthumb. He will truly be missed!

I will have a station at the West Bend Cache Bash for people to leave a note or small memorabilia for Mr. Greenthumb’s family that will be placed in an ammo can and given to them at his memorial ceremony on August 19th.  You can drop off an item you wish to contribute that day, make a note at the bash or mail to me and I will place it in the ammo can for you.  Just PM me for my address.  He will be missed…

I am so sad that I won’t be able to make it to any of the memorial events.  He will be very much missed by all, myself included.  He was a real giver and you really felt like he cared about you.
