I’m not going to name names, because I think this person did this truly out of kindness, but…..

I had a storytelling gig in Madison on Wednesday and one in Waterford last night. When I’d finished the gig in Madison, I turned my phone on to discover someone had found my wallet. It probably fell out of my bag of stuff while I was changing and getting ready. The person was completely honorable and in fact sent it to my home express mail.

Problem was….I wasn’t going home yet, and had no money and no ID! Someone here deduced all this from some posts, and when I arrived at my program last night, had left an envelope with cash and an address to mail the check when I got back home.

We can celebrate finding challenge caches, getting 1000 and all that stuff, but none of that really matters anywhere beyond these boards, if even there. What’s truly worth celebrating is the caring and helpfulness of those of us playing this silly game. You know who you are, so here’s a public thanks! If not for this person, I’d probably have to join the southeast WI/GONIL folks.. but look how many unfound caches we have there, LOL.

Great story. I was reading your logs and was wondering if maybe you were going to show up at our door with a tin cup. Glad everything worked out and you still were able to grab a few caches while you were here. Maybe you can add this to your story telling repetoire. It’s always great to here about the good people.

What an awesome story and one that reinforces how truly genuine, trustworthy, and friendly geocachers are!

Thanks for sharing this for everyone to see!

And to the nameless person — what an awesome deed! Smiles and good fortune wishes your way.
