The owner archived four Wisconsin virtuals due the irritation from armchair loggers. Four we didn’t get to see……have to make note of the locations so we can still visit when in the area, but sad to see this happen.
Understandable, but sad nonetheless.
12/27/2009 at 12:25 am #1918809All they needed to do was change the question and make it clear that the BS logs would be deleted…. I have only had about 10 or so BS logs made on mine…(that I know of).
12/27/2009 at 12:40 am #1918810I do understand how someone could get sick of it, though. We have two of the three we own that we have to monitor constantly. People won’t even send the answer, just log them. It’s a pain.
I guess we did find one of the four that were archived….
12/27/2009 at 3:02 am #1918811What were the GC numbers on the four that got archived?

12/27/2009 at 3:12 am #1918813I’m lucky and had gotten all of them with my dad marnmac earlier this year. Wish he would have given them up for adoption. I would have loved to have got them for xmas…
12/27/2009 at 9:03 pm #1918814I just mentioned this the other day that I was pretty sure these would go down.
I also found all 4, at the time the email was not available. Two of them were interesting spots, the other 2 I didn’t make the connection with so I’m not sure what they were trying to show. I found all the requirements but just didn’t make the connection between the description and the area/subject.
12/28/2009 at 12:44 am #1918815I did notice that the “owner” only had like 13 finds. Not exactly an “active” cacher.
Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
12/28/2009 at 1:15 am #1918816It’s obviously the responsibility of the owner to keep these caches “legal” and it’s the fault of armchair loggers for ruining these in general. However, it’s also unfortunate–and somewhat ironic–that a discussion on these forums that eventually led to a “nastygram” to the owner seems to have led to the archival of these caches. 🙁

I certainly wouldn’t blame the archival on these threads… The owner chose to do what they chose to do. They could have revamped the writeups. They could have chosen to uphold the requirements of the virtual log. Looks to me like they threw in the towel. Similar to what many physical cache owners do when their container is muggled and they don’t choose to just archive it rather than replace and continue.
Oh well, a few less (pretend) caches in the world. Doesn’t bother me too much.
12/28/2009 at 3:15 pm #1918818I echo Cheeto’s sentiments. I don’t care for virtuals all that much. I’ve only found two in all of my 400 total finds and only because they are in my area.
Otherwise, I prefer to find the physical cache that I can actually sign a log. Same goes for earth caches.
12/28/2009 at 4:34 pm #1918819I really hope that my post in a seperate forum didn’t lead to these virtuals being archived. I have heard about the armchair loggers in the past and don’t condone it. I was looking at caches to hit on a planned trip and looked at one of these now archived ones to stop at. Yes there was an armchair logger that was one of the last finders, and I just simpley stated an observation from this finders cacheing history. It’s too bad the the owner couldn’t just change the requirements for logging them. It’s equally disappointing that GS won’t allow these to be adopted rather than archived.
12/28/2009 at 4:57 pm #1918820I love Virts / ECs and have found 99 of them in total. I really miss Verts (well the good ones anyway). I like to learn about stuff just as much as I love to find film cans on guard rails….OK maybe the guard rails kinda suck but finding something with a log to sign is usually a good thing.
12/28/2009 at 6:42 pm #1918821I enjoy vitual & earthcaches. Tim does them to keep me happy. It’s sad to see 4 wis caches go. It’s up to the owners how they want to handle armchair cachers but I wouldn’t stand for it. I looked at one of the archived caches and the last person to log was someone from Germany.
Wish I had money to hit this many states in a couple of days, talk about frequent flyer miles 😉
These are the states this cacher logged…12-14 Arkasas 12-18 Iowa,Michigan 12-20 Texas 12-21&22 Oregon
12-24 Thirty eight u.s. states and one in canada
Maybe they do virtual caches differently in Germany
12/29/2009 at 5:54 am #1918822Recently stopped by a Virtual, specifically, to pick up a TB previously left by a nice German team, but it wasn’t there…………….and we looked virtually everywhere for it….must have gone missing………. looky-see: GC4AF7
