An awesome milestone. Congrats.
10/05/2011 at 7:12 pm #1953689Hey Brian – conngrats on the milestone and in such an awesome manner. Very fun that you have taken the sport of geocaching and put your own mark on it. I always enjoy reading your logs….keep on caching and having fun adventures. And don’t get “lonely”.

10/07/2011 at 3:08 pm #1953691Wow, thankx everyone! I sure had fun with that first 1K and don’t plan on stopping any time soon. I didn’t race to it like a finish line but took my time choosing my adventures instead of just hitting easy #’s. If I counted right it took me about 509 days to find 1000 with out a GPS, I had found many more than that with my dad, but we used the unit so Muggle B doesn’t count them.
heres some stats of my first K.
Traditional 600
Puzzle 270
Multi 101
Virtual 11
Earthcache 10
Letterbox hybrid 4
Event 3
CITO 1
Total 1000137 caches on the LCG for a total of 1716 points
25 caches that had gone 1 year or longer since the last finder.
8 FTF’s and a handful of co-FTF’s
14 placed and 8 adopted (22 owned)
Caches found in 3 states, and over 20 WI counties.
248 out of 366 days filled on my grid
I probably ran into about 20-25 cachers randomly on the trail, some of them more than once.Ill still be going GPS less, its not that hard if you can relate maps to your surroundings, except deep in the woods, those still give me a real rough time. Now that I have a smartphone mapping in the field is a real time saver, my first 500 was without and on top of being new to the hobby I did a lot of digging around and wandering and back and forth driving, but It was the most fun I had in a long time.
A big thank you to all the owners of caches, without you Id have nothing to find.
now im off to find 2000!
Muggle B10/08/2011 at 2:31 am #1953692Way to Go Brian. Getting 1K is hard enough with a GPS unit. Getting them “going naked” is really an accomplishment.
