turned on my gpsr today, and it didn’t start. i think there is something wrong with the startup button. i wonder if it has anything to do with the reboot it caused my computer the other day? garmin is going to repair it, but it’ll be a long 2-3 weeks before i get it back. and now that it has cooled off, i’m ready to go caching again.

Be sure to call Garmin Tech Support on this. I have found them to be very professional and helpful. (Magellan support for their product, too, for that matter.)

This might sound dumb, but if you unit is still refusing to turn on, try changing the batteries.

I almost always use rechargable batteries in my 60cs and I’ve noticed that sometimes, a freshly charged set won’t work right off the bat. I gotta start the unit on a partly run down set of rechargables (or non-rechargable alkalines) to get the unit to turn on. Sometimes, one freshly charged rechargeable battery and one partly run down rechargeable works too.

Hey – I don’t have an explaination – but this has solved this problem for me. Try different mixes of batteries before you give up, it just might work.

      Good luck!

i did try using different batteries, but i’ll try the charged and used method. i have the return authorization from garmin, and even tho i bought it in may of 04, they are still going to run it under warranty. how’s that for a great company?

Mine did the same thing, except at first the power button wouldn’t turn it off. I had to take out the batteries every time, but at least it was still useable. But then I couldn’t get it to turn on either. Garmin was great about it and sent me a new unit.

well, i tried using old batteries, and the darn thing started right up. but since garmin was good enough to give me an rma number, and auntinae loaned me her spare gpsr, i sent mine off to garmin to get checked out. and maybe they will replace the scratched up window. well i can hope, can’t i
