My new name!

Changed my geocaching name – just so some of my friends here see it and know it is me. I went from lonesumdove to LDove. Why?

I am not lonely – it was a name chosen from a bird I saw at the first cache I did and at the time I thought it was cute.

It gives people the wrong impression.

It is too darn long, writing it in logs or typing it in every time I log on.

So LDove it is! 😀

And how are people getting their name changed on geocaching.com? I thought that they told people they weren’t going to allow name changes any more?

You have to make a special appeal. If you go to the gc help site and dig a bit. The key is make sure the name you wasn’t isn’t being used (obviously) AND be sure not to set up a “dummy” account to “hold” the name. You can only change to a name that’s never been used.

I don’t know what their parameters are for making changes as they don’t specify them.

They announced that they were allowing name changes again about 2 months ago “somewhere” in the forums. Jeremy, I’m thinking you should change your name to “The REAL Jeremy” or maybe “Jeremy with better hair”. Think that would fly?

Yes, they allowed me to make the change with a thorough explanation of WHY I wanted it changed. It has more to do with several e-mails I have received of late – certain indivduals thinking I am “lonely” and offering some help with that – ech… not interested! So I wanted to present myself in a better light and they understood. Still kept the Dove part because I love ’em and it has become part of me. Although I did think of things that seem more appropriate now that I have been caching for awhile like Swampstomper and Burrmagnet, but we have pathtags with the doves on them, etc… and so I left it at that.

Energy – I wish they would! But, they give me gifts every time when I am in the woods enjoying their great music! 😆

Jeremy, thanks for changing my name here too – or to whomever did! Was not sure how to do that… 😕 😳

😆 😆 LB7, the weird thing was, it was not even people from this state. Maybe they wanted to really meet me and bash me in the head with their calculator after counting my temp cache logs… 🙄

I’ve gotten gifts from the birds too … but in my case I had to use the sink and wall-mounted dryer at McDonalds.
