I downloaded this app over the weekend and have been playing with it. It looks great! Loading up the images from the servers takes a little bit of time, but I assume that’s because a lot of people may be accessing it currently.

Anyways, the link to it is here: http://learn.arc.nasa.gov/worldwind/features.html

You can zoom in and view topo maps, land boundry, satellite images etc. It’s pretty neat. I’ll post some snap shots once I have some interesting maps loaded up

Hi guys and gals, I’m a follower of World Wind

As you can see their site is down for maintenance at the moment, however I’ve got a mirror of some downloads, including a patch to the newest version and some cached Landsat7 satellite data. http://www.twobeds.com/nasa contains everything. Note that to use the 200Mb cache file, you need the World Wind patch.

With the cache data – download it and unzip it into program filesNASAcache and then copy the folders across, making sure that everything goes in the right place (there’s different folders for each data set).

Also, there is .25m image data available. Click the layer manager, go to images, and tick only the bottom box. Note however that this imagery is only available in some urban areas.

Above all..enjoy! The guys at NASA are doing a fantastic job with this, and got caught totally unawares by its sudden popularity, which is why the website is down and the data is slow to load.

Lastly – when the site is back up please download from their site or my bank account might actually be empty by the time I wake up :O

Odd. I installed it from their mirror site, but when I run it, it just sits on the “Initializing” screen.
