My Wife works for the Manitowoc YMCA and they want to hold an introduction to caching event. My plans are to use one of the 3 parks here that already have some caches. I will be putting out some temp caches because I do not think there will be many if any registered cachers. It will be for kids and families and a way to try this awesome game. What I need is some ideas as to what else I can do to make this a fun event. I have some very good cachers in the area to help me. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks
I work for YMCA of the Fox Cities and we cross-promote with Manitowoc, Green Bay, and Oshkosh. If it is an official Y event, I can give you names of contact people who could promote it in the Fox Valley. I would personally word-of-mouth promote it to my geocaching co-workers, and I would certainly try to show up for the event if my schedule allowed it. PM or e-mail me if you have further details I can help with.
We often teach beginner classes, through school, local libraries and local resorts.
We do a power point first, explain a few things and then off we go.
If you have a group I would use a “finders tree” so that everyone has a chance to find the cache.
If you have specific questions you can pm us.
