I haven’t had a car for the last three months, and now I have no way to get to my cache to do maintenance. I’ve gotten reports that the container is cracked but instead of replacing it I want to archive my cache.
Since I have no way to get to the cache without a car I was wondering if anyone else could help me by going and picking up the geo-junk/broken container. The cache is spelunking Magnolia (GCQRXZ).

PM sent.
I was going to check on my own cache in this park (someone reported that some of the trails have been washed out and closed) tomorrow or next weekend and I can pick up or replace the container at that time…

I plan on buying a new car before fall, but while it’s nice out this summer I want to stick to just using my bicycle. I hadn’t thought about my cache maintenance when deciding to bike all summer, so its great to not have to archive my cache.I guess I could have tried to bike ride to do the maintenance, but it’s around 20miles one way though most of Green County’s hills. I don’t know about any of you but that’s beyond my range of travel on bike. 😉
05/29/2008 at 1:32 pm #1889539Thanks again Jeremy for helping my out, I’m sure someday I can return the favor. Also thanks for posting a shot of the broken container I was definitely surprised at the size of the hole in it, I thought lock n lock containers were pretty durable before I saw that.

No problem, I’m fortunate enough to own a bike that loves to travel (20 miles is like a short ride around the block) and has no difficulty handling the biggest hills.
I was also surprised at the amount of damage to the container. I thought Lock n Locks were the best plastic container available, but maybe they get brittle in the winter and someone dropped it? No geocacher admits to breaking the container in the online logs or in the logbook itself though. And it didn’t appear like it was discovered and vandalized by muggles. Anyone else have stories of Lock n Lock failures?
I think I’m going to stick with traditional ammoboxes wherever possible…

I had one of the locking flaps break off very soon after we put it out. Otherwise I have had no trouble with any of our lock ‘n’ locks, and some of them have already been through 2 UP winters.
05/29/2008 at 4:33 pm #1889542I wonder if the container was frozen into place during the winter and someone tried to pry or punch it out of the ice.
The only Lock N Lock damage I have seen was done by a bear. It put big claw holes in it on the top and bottom.
