This one has me banging my head against the keyboard. Finally getting around to getting 2 years’ worth of digital video off the camera and I want to make a DVD out of it to play on the ol’ idiot box.
Being a loyal Windows user (read: too cheap to buy video editing software), I’m using Windows Movie Maker.
You can’t burn direct to DVD using MM. The instructions are to “publish to my machine” and create a DV-AVI file, then burn that file to DVD.
Sure, I can do that.
However, despite the movie being just 90 minutes long, it takes up a whopping 20 GB–5 times the size of a DVD-R disc.
Somehow I have to get this rascal down to the size that it purportely should be based on video length. Google searches on this topic lead me down very seedy paths filled with potential spyware. I am looking for suggestions that don’t require me to buy a Mac or even other software…
