Are you operating it in the car when it does this?
Does it do it outside of the car?03/21/2008 at 6:12 pm #1886479I know there is a button combination you can press to “reset” that unit. If someone can not help you here, the Garmin help folks would be able to tell you how.
I would first try turning it off, then on and leaving it sit with clear view of the sky for a good 10 minutes. It might be all it needs to “find itself” again.

The magical key sequence for a 60-series master reset is to hold down the Enter and Page keys when powering up. It will ask you if you want to erase all data… answer yes.
Holding down Enter while powering up will put it in a test mode. This is sometimes interesting to look at when geocaching in extreme weather because it shows the internal temperature of the unit. 🙂
It is worth a shot to try the reset first, because this is what the Garmin folks will ask you to do before sending it back. Note that after a reset it will take longer than normal, maybe 10 minutes or more, to acquire a satellite lock.
03/22/2008 at 1:30 pm #1886481Well thanks everyone for the help i just reset it and it is locating satellites. it is even locating them in my house which i did not do before well lets see if this fixes the problem. If not i will be back asking for more help.
03/24/2008 at 3:22 am #1886482Thanks again everyone for the help. My gps is working great now bad thing is I lost all my waypoints I guess now all I have to do is go back to all the locations I went too. 😆 can anyone say road trip!!!!!
04/19/2008 at 2:52 am #1886483okay folks i did the complete clear on my gps it worked great. and then all of a sudden boom cant locate anything and i had to loose all my waypoints again in order to locate satellites again what is up with this thing?? battery bars show full and i have a car power supply but it seems if i leave off for more than 2 days i have to reboot the whole thing in order to locate satellites again. i am starting to get irritated and i don’t know what to do. could it be possible that i have too much of mapping installed i have the whole state of Wisconsin loaded in from the mapping system from map source could this be the problem. any help would be great.
04/19/2008 at 2:55 am #1886484I would call the Garmin Customer Service. They will probably have you send it in and they will send you a new on. I sort of had the same problem as mine would total signal. Called them sent, sent it out on a Monday and had a new one Friday.
04/19/2008 at 2:58 am #1886485where do you find the costomer care line and does it matter that it is about 2 years old and i dont have the recipt anymore ( dummy me).
04/19/2008 at 3:06 am #1886486Go to Garmin dot com. There should be a link. Once you find the phone # , you might have to call a few time before you get to talk to someone, but they’ll you what they will do, but I’m willing to bet they’ll send you a new unit.
04/19/2008 at 3:08 am #1886487Thanks for the help i will have to call on monday
04/21/2008 at 6:20 pm #1886488OK I think I/we might have found the problem. Jeremy was at the Geo 101 class in Waukesha and i did tell him that i had all of Wisconsin loaded into the unit using map source topo. he and I think that i might have been overloading the unit and have no memory and that is why my unit gets buggy after time and then i cant locate satellites. let me know if this has happened to anyone else. and if people agree that this might have been causing my problems. i fixed it today and the unit loads faster and my accuracy is even better now. well lets see if this fixes it or not.
