Our county has started a 4H geocaching project. They have asked me to put together some kind of proposal for purchasing multiple units. I’m not a techie person and haven’t really used many GPS’s other than my own. Can someone please give me some advice? I would like them to be accurate and easy to use. I really don’t care about all the bells and whistles, this is for children to use and not the typical obsessed geocacher. Also, if anyone has any advice on where to purchase them that might give me a deal on multiple units, that would also be appreciated. Thank you!
We have 2 Oregon 450s and 1 Etrex10. The menu is similar. The Etrex is toggle operated. I have found it to be more accurate that the Oregons unless under extreme tree cover. I have seen them a Cabelas as low as $75 if you hit the sale. Very easy to use.
You could contact one of the makers directly, explaining your youth involvement, and see if there is a volume discount they could give you.
Doesn’t hurt to ask.
