I made a homemade gizmo that I just finally took out of my caching bag. I had taken a piece of stiff wire and bent it like a hook so I could put it around a stick to retrieve those high caches. This is helpful for those of us who are vertically challenged. But I just took it out of my bag because I was tired of getting poked. It came in handy a time or two though.

But ya gonn do if ya need it? Could ya not wrap in it tape or dip the ends in wax?

You can also buy a can of liquide rubber and dip it in that, that should fix your problem too.

I NEVER leave the house with out my Swiss Army Knife(SAK) I think I carry either the Woodsman or the Huntsman cuz of the small saw blse it comes with, plus the sissors, twezzers and yes, Ihave used the corkscrew to open a few wine bottles, plus I buy the mini screwdriver at scre right into it. I’ve carried one for more than 25 years. And if I know I’m gong to be out in the woods, I strap on my leatherman. Them pliers do come in very handy.

Don’t forget a flashlight. I do alot of night caching because of my schedule during the day and a flashlight is a must. Sometimes I even use it during the day. We all know the hint ‘ghpxrq va’.

I never leave home without my extendable lighted mechanics mirror. It’s helped me find at least 2 caches that we had previously DNF’d.

I was thinking about getting one, but didn’t know they came with lights on them too. Way cool will have to look for one like that.

I got mine from the Cornwell Tool guy. I’m sure you might be able to buy one from Napa or a parts store.

Hemostat for extracting logs from micros and nanos.

Hemostats used to be expensive to get, but now the hospital uses disposable hemostats, so I just grab them before they go in the trash.
