When you get it just pick out the disc for your area and load it. All you load is topo maps and they are road routable. Routing on the PN-60 is a lot better than the -40. If you load cache register from the Delorme site you never have to load Topo 9.0. That is where you need time to figure it out.
Any questions please contact me and I will try and help.
Love my PN-60….. just having a HASSLE loading it lately. Sometimes the software works and sometimes it doesn’t. what is everyone using to load with????
The problem with Cash Register is that it doesn’t give the icon for the type of cache, so when on a hunt for multis mixed with regulars, etc…. you don’t know time ya get there. I believe that was the issue Digital Dan was having and that is why we switched to Topo 9.0 (The software we have ISSUEs with at times)
What hassles? I open Topo, map files, geocaching and sign it. Most of the time just by opening Topo it loads the PQ. Then handheld and pick what you want. And also delete what you want. Any questions feel free to ask.
Thanks
I got a PN-60 in May and once I got used to it, I’ve grown to really like it. One thing that I don’t like it that it doesn’t show associated waypoints, such as parking coordinates. I work around this by using my phone to look at the cache page for these. I haven’t had any problems with the road routing. You can turn the volume of the beeps down or even off if you want, but I find that they are helpful in alerting me when a turn is coming up.
You should see the parking coordinates under the “waypoints” menu if you uploaded your pocket Q. correctly. If it’s the same as the PN-40
