“A man with a GPSr knows exactly where he is. A man with two, isn’t quite sure.”

    How about a man with 3? 4? … 8?

Picked up the Foretrex 100 at the Kenosha Aldi for $69.99 yesterday. It’s soooooo cute. I can strap it to my bike handles, or stick a velcro strip to my dash to mount it there. No cable, so it’ll cost you extra if you want to download from your computer. Don’t know if it’s compatible with any other garmin cables. It’s a basic unit, but I got it mainly for biking. Aldi does not take checks or credit cards, so I actually had to dig out my pin for the atm. I figure if I own 7 different cameras, I can justify owning two different gpsrs. Linda

here is the cable you need, I don’t think it’s the same as any of the other garmin cables.

I still haven’t ordered a cable but plan on it sometime soon. if anyone knows of a cheaper place to get one please let me know.

The West side madison Aldi store has them for $69. (behind Menards)
I just picked one up, they keep them in their office, just ask during checkout.

Might have to get another one for our Niece and Nephews in MO.

I seen the Garmin Foretrex at the Aldi’s on 68th & Capitol Dr. in Milwaukee on Sat ( 10/28 ) for $69.99 if anyone is interested & still looking.

Thanks for the tip. There are 6 more Foretrex units sitting in the manager’s office at this location after I bought mine tonight… this is the first Milwaukee area Aldis that I found had them in stock. Since I spent some time explaining what a GPS receiver is to the manager (no it is not a cell phone or a bracelet to track someone’s movements :)), I’m guessing they aren’t a big seller.

Now that I have a pair, I’m going to leave them alone together and should have a litter of little ones in a couple months. 😯

Jeremy, don’t you need a set for your ankles?

No I already get those for free from the state. They cost the taxpayers a lot more than 69 bucks though… the good thing about the ankle units is that I can just call my PO and he can check his computer and tell me if I am near any caches.

I believe a new geo-term has been coined:

    Term:
    Jeremy-Hide

    Definition:
Hiding a geocaching and going for maximum accuracy by laying spread out on the ground, taking 4 GPSr readings from your extremities and averaging the 4 readings.

I second the Jeremy-Hide. I think we are going to need to submit that to the folks that keep the Geo-Lexicon up to date.

And after the last couple of days of caching, I have another one:

    YASPITW.
Yet Another Stick Pile In The Woods.

I mean come on, do you really need to make a beaver hut on top of the cache or on the side of the log that is semi-concealing the cache? For about 20 bucks you can go to your local Graybay Electrical Supply house, and pick up a amber, or Red Rotating Beacon Light, that will run on six volt batteries, with a solar cell, and put that on a pole next to the cache…

Come on people in MN. Lets make it a little challenge!!!
