1 FTF (7:12) this morning
1 DNF – didn’t feel like crawling around on the wet ground before going into work this morning – will try later this weekend with a bigger group.10/16/2009 at 7:29 pm #1915229@Captain and Mate wrote:

So, has anyone completed all 106 caches yet? This series is already on its second day now. 😉
Place your bets, folks. Who will it be?
I ran into Puzzler & BrrrGirl around 11:30am and they were right around 70 and still going strong. I’ll place by bet on this dynamic duo.

Whenever a geocacher undertakes a project in the interest of numbers, there will be a temptation to compromise ethics or art of the sport. An earlier project [by a board member] resulted in a number of caches being placed on DNR managed lands without obtaining permission. Some series have resulted in placements that were not such great locations, some on private property without permission, etc. I hope that the nine cachers involved have’nt lost sight of these factors.
Just to clarify, the individual who placed several caches on DNR lands without filling out the DNR notification form was NOT a WGA board member, and has never been a WGA board member.
I do agree with your other points, I just wanted to clear up that error.

10/17/2009 at 11:21 am #1915231Awesome series! It’s great fun to have a challenge like this!
I only got 36 or 37 of them (No DNFs!) in a full day of caching yesterday with MikMac4 (during regular park hours). We figured out where all the ships are hiding, but we continued finding the misses anyway that were in our area of caching. I knew I wouldn’t be FTF, so it didn’t matter. A little bird told me Puzzler got the Final. Congrats to Puzzler. I’m super impressed!! Especially because they’re SO spread out!
I have family stuff today, but hopefully, I’ll manage another large chunk on Sunday ….. anyone interested in teaming up?
10/17/2009 at 4:42 pm #1915232I did 6 this morning…plan to do 11 more tomorrow morning (in Waukesha) ….looks like I will have to do this in chunks as I’m having a hard time getting a caching partner to do a long haul trip….
10/17/2009 at 7:24 pm #1915233I have created a “grid” with the approximate location / city / road / landmark at the top of each cell.
These are only approximations, and some of the places may only be known to somebody who is from the area.
I have included a PDF Version.
I have also included the Microsoft Excel version.
You may need to right-click, then “save as” to get at these files. If you have changes or a better description for any of the cells, please feel free to PM me and I can update it.
Hope you find this at least somewhat helpful.
10/17/2009 at 7:55 pm #1915234Thanks Tie, I was about 1/3 done working on a grid like that
10/17/2009 at 10:32 pm #1915235that grid is depressing. the only hit i have, shows me i have quite a drive to even check out the 4 possibilities.
anyone want to make a run for some of these this friday? oct 23?
10/19/2009 at 2:52 am #1915236Found 23 of these this weekend…had a blast! I really love to see the different style of the different cache placers….A series like this really breathes new life into the game. 😛
10/19/2009 at 2:37 pm #1915237Thanks for the Grid. I was getting one put together this morning for next weekend. I know its only Monday, but I have to have something to get me through the week.
10/21/2009 at 2:57 pm #1915238Interesting to see in the Active Caches part of the Recent Logs section that, except for the top spot (WB 2010 Cache Bash), all caches listed are Battleship series caches.

Well allow me to keep that going with another 40 finds on those this weekend…..they sure are fun…
10/23/2009 at 11:10 pm #1915240Just got notifications about a Battleship series posted in Flatlandia. A 25 part multi, Claims to be spread out over 2500 square miles. I start my quest tomorrow in Waukesha on the way to a wedding…
10/26/2009 at 12:18 am #1915241This is truly a great series that obviously required a lot of work. I have noticed something over the weekend doing 50 of these caches that was a bit disturbing. Why can’t people screw on the cover of a pill bottle correctly? The painted side goes up and the white side with the sticker saying “hit” or “miss” faces down. The stickers are already fading or missing. Just saying it isn’t too dificult to help out the placers of this series.
10/26/2009 at 2:02 am #1915242Just curious on this series . . . Are people playing this like the “Battleship” game, making enough finds to sink all the ships and get the final, and then letting it sit for awhile before getting the other caches (or at least getting the rest after the final), or are people looking to do all 106 caches before considering it complete, for their own purposes?
Those of you who are working on this series or who have completed it, how are you doing this one?
