OK, I finally got the bookmark list up and listed on the site. I haven’t had a chance to update the logging page, so that will probably not be up until Friday night. Also, I need to update the password on my website for the map, but I am not able to do it now due to internet blocking by the Chinese government (seriously!) Once I get home, hopefully I will be able to get that up and running as well.
07/05/2013 at 12:52 am #1970901Thanks Dave!
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
07/05/2013 at 6:27 am #1970902OK, after a bit of negotiation with the Communist party, I managed to get the report form updated. Unfortunately, it looks like I wiped out the rules, etc. on the front page. Hopefully Brian can fix. The map will still have to wait until I am on US soil. Have fun all!
07/05/2013 at 1:45 pm #1970903Geocaching must be a covert activity in China. There are only 494 caches in China. The top cacher has only 1223 finds. Only 16 cachers with 200 or more finds. Hope you make it back Dave. Keep that gpsr hidden or they might think you are a spy.
07/05/2013 at 2:42 pm #1970904Well, I was able to retrieve the text for the main page of the LCG but doesn’t have the html or graphics. The Wayback Machine did not have an archive for the rules page. Hope someone has a file tucked away somewhere.

07/05/2013 at 4:32 pm #1970905ok, added html and image to the main page but no luck on the rules. Seasoned players, you all know the rules, new players, we will correct you if you mess up 🙂

If I knew how to do it this would be the spot that I would insert the Little Caesars No Rules commercial. 😆
07/08/2013 at 3:28 am #1970907OK, I got the map uploaded, but I’m not sure it is working right, as I am trying a new program (since I lost my Google Maps key and don’t seem to be able to generate another). Can someone try it out and make sure that the map works?
07/08/2013 at 11:06 am #1970908It looks like a map. Very colorful. Very strange though. Glad I’m not impatient.
07/08/2013 at 2:11 pm #1970909Same style as the COTM map, but looks like it’s working.
07/08/2013 at 2:53 pm #1970910I understand the challenges of getting maps to work within the framework you’re working with. The map functions exactly as it should, so from a technical perspective it appears to be good. Unfortunately I’m not a fan of this style map, but it doesn’t matter too much as I’m not playing the LCG any longer.
An alternative though which I found to work better for my preferences is to convert the public bookmark to a PQ and then use the GC.com mapping feature for the PQ. This has the added benefit of showing me exactly which caches I’ve done and which ones I haven’t done.
07/08/2013 at 3:59 pm #1970911I agree that the icons used for this map are not optimal (the clustering is user selectable by rightclicking on the map). So far, I haven’t found a way to get different icons.
07/08/2013 at 5:58 pm #1970912I certainly appreciate the work done on the map. I am rather low-tech and the map is all I use.
I noticed that lonely parking areas are also showing up but that’s no real problem. -
