I’m sure this isn’t a 100% accurate list, but at least it’s pretty close, and interesting to see how this sport is growing in WI:
(Note: new cachers in each month are determined by the date of their first cache)Jan 2004 – 31 new cachers
Feb 2004 – 17 new cachers
Mar 2004 – 49 new cachers
Apr 2004 – 107 new cachers
May 2004 – 79 new cachers
Jun 2004 – 79 new cachers
Jul 2004 – 111 new cachers
Aug 2004 – 74 new cachers to date.Total of 2004 to date: 547
Total of 2003 cachers: 352
Total of 2002 cachers: 170

Holy geocaching batman!!!! That’s a lotta new cachers!!! Absolutely amazing!!!
Who’s the lone one from 2000? Is it someone who is still active?
08/25/2004 at 4:15 am #1747484I don’t have a clue, but it is nice to think that we could be around #100

I had tracked active cachers through the end of 2003. At that time you were #99 on the list. I had counted 300 active cachers at the end of 2002. Brew’s record shows a total of 255 at that time [not too bad]. the term active cacher is misleading. These are cachers that appeared in the recent finds list between the time we started [April 2002] and the point in question. our numbers have been trippling annualy while we lose about 25% of the old cachers. The alogrithms for tracking that plus the fuzzy math I have been using makes the error of my estimates at about 30%. but from this I would estimate that you were about the 150th resident cacher to log a find in Wisconsin. That would mean that your estimate is really not too far off.

I think it might be woodsman. Although he hasn’t hidden any geocaches, he posted a no find at one of the first geocaches in the state, and I see that he is still active, having logged on as recently as two months ago. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=40421b83-bc01-4d79-88cf-5f7b5cf25f0c
