I just started playing with one of the latest updates from Groundspeak, changing my solved/unfound puzzle coordinates on the cache pages. I think that will be likely to come in handy. I already really appreciated the notes section for this purpose but it’ll be nice to have it at the top of the cache page as well. It looks like the map on the cache page reflects the new coordinates but when you click on the “view larger map” feature it still shows up as the original coordinates. That’s too bad as I always like to check out if there are other nearby caches once I’ve solved for the coordinates. I guess there’s something for the suggestion box. Anyone else use it yet?

11/19/2011 at 10:28 pm #1954501From what I read about changing the coords, It will not be changed in a PQ yet, but if you download the coords individually or send to GPS then they will stay updated, have you tried to log out ant back in, do they stay updated?
11/19/2011 at 11:08 pm #1954502I also used the notes section the same way, and like the ability to now make the coord change directly on the cache page, where it remains in place during downloads, and on the dynamic map. It seems as long as you are logged into GC.com, these personalization features will be intact.
Regarding how they show up on the ‘beta maps’, other features being requested and in the works, as well as a spot to join in on the improvements discussion, please see this thread: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=285051&st=0&p=4888356&hl=corrected%20coordinates&fromsearch=1&#entry4888356
Especially note the comment by Moun10Bike 🙂
11/20/2011 at 12:04 am #1954503I’ll start entering coordinates into it, but it will really be useful once it gets incorporated into PQs.
11/20/2011 at 2:15 am #1954504I just enter coordinates of solved caches on GSAK.

Ditto for me. All my notes for all my puzzle caches are in GSAK along with the final coords.
I’m also not sure why they limited this to one set of coords. That doesn’t work for 3+ stage multis.
11/20/2011 at 4:25 am #1954506Seems like the frog will slowly take on many of the prize features of GSAK, while GSAK fights to stay relevant.
My wish right now is that GSAK was cloud-based, accessible through an App on a ‘Pad or my phone.
11/20/2011 at 4:35 am #1954507My GSAK wish is for a macro to store cache descriptions and past few logs for an android phone for offline viewing similar to the Ipod Notes Macro.
While I do have the C:Geo app for my phone, I need to use the internet to retrieve the cache information and am not always in an area near towers.
11/20/2011 at 5:52 am #1954508Can’t you send this as a gpx file to your phone now, and then import that file into c:geo’s stored caches? I do this now, but first store it into GDAK, and then import to c:geo.
11/20/2011 at 1:27 pm #1954509I use an iPod Touch with Geosphere. It’s all offline storage but works great. I’m not sure if this app is available for the Android though.
11/20/2011 at 1:32 pm #1954510GSAK definately has a nitch market and like geocaching (the game), gc.com, etc. it will need to evolve in order to stay competitive.
The one thing I’d like to see within GSAK is a gc.com style map. If it had the ability to show in interactive map it would be the ultimate piece of cache software.
It’s filtering is far superior to GC.com. It’s macros make it way more extensible than GC.com. All around it just provides way more flexibility than GC.com does. And I haven’t seen any support in GSAK for “challenges” (thank goodness).
11/20/2011 at 2:05 pm #1954511I always love to read these threads on the forums because I never notice this stuff and so it benefits me greatly to hang around smart people like all of you and gleen off of your intelligence! I need to check this out.
Like Ed, I put all of my corrected coordinates into GSAK and download into my GPS from there so that I have the corrected coordinates.
The views expressed here are that of myself only and do not necessarily represent that of the WGA board.

Do you mean you want a map with all the caches in the filter on it in a separate window? Or do you mean you want the gc.com map in split screen?

A map with all the caches in the filter on it in a separate window. Preferably interactive like the map on gc.com where you can click on an icon and see the name of the cache.
11/21/2011 at 1:46 am #1954514Have you tried the Google Map V3 macro? It will take the caches you have in your filter and put them in a map for you and let you interact with them either pulling up the GSAK entry for the cache or pull up the cache on the GC.com site.
